Trump considered Mueller for FBI director before he was named special counsel: report

President Trump was considering former FBI Director Robert Mueller to replace James Comey atop the bureau before Mueller was named as special counsel to oversee the investigation into Russian election interference, NPR reported Friday.

Mueller met with Justice Department and White House officials about leading the FBI again after Trump fired Comey in early May, the report said.

But when Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein named Mueller as the special counsel to oversee the Russia probe, he was removed from contention.

Mueller previously served as the FBI director under former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. He began serving in the role just days before the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and when Obama came into office, he extended Mueller’s 10-year term by two years.

Trump on Wednesday announced his intention to nominate Christopher Wray to serve as the new FBI director via Twitter.

"I will be nominating Christopher A. Wray, a man of impeccable credentials, to be the new Director of the FBI," the president tweeted early Wednesday morning.

Wray served as an assistant attorney general who oversaw the criminal division under former Bush before entering private law practice at the firm King & Spalding.

Wow. Looks like Mueller could be a key witness in his own investigation.

Time to shut it down.

We have 3 separate branches of government for a reason. The US Congress is seriously over-stepping its bounds. It's being played for fools by Jim Comey's tenure at the FBI.

There is no evidence of "Russian interference in the 2016 election". Were there Russian hackers? Possibly, but that doesn't mean they were the Russian government. This whole tall tale about Russia wanting to destroy our democracy is hog-wash from Senile Senators on the take with Ukraine and a few with either juvenile and unique Hate on Russia backgrounds or DemoQuacks who find it expedient after loving on Russia for 8 years to now hate on Russia because they perceive Trump might succeed where Obama failed.

There is no evidence of "Collusion between the Trump Campaign and Russian interference in the 2016 election".

The FBI, Special Counsel and these investigative committees in Congress are involved in unjust acts that are violating Americans civil rights. They are dragging innocent people through the mud, they are convicting them in the press, they are invading their privacy, jeopardizing their livelihoods, ruining their reputations. This is not "Justice", this is INJUSTICE, the opposite of Justice, the opposite of our Bill of Rights, and a grotesque deviation of Congressional powers under the US Constitution.

The President of the United States is the constitutional authority and the sole power for Executive Branch investigations, that includes the FBI, ICE, BP, DEA, ATF, TSA, NSA, CIA and the DOJ to name a few. The DOJ is not an independent agency, it's a department of the Executive Branch reporting to the President.

When there is no crime, there should be no investigation. When the alleged crimes prove either not to be crimes (Russian interference in the 2016 election), or there is no evidence of actual crimes (collusion with the Russians), then what are you doing?? You are operating a Witch Hunt using millions of dollars of tax-payer dollars and the vast resources of the federal government to investigate what has already been investigated and came up empty and thereby broadening the investigation beyond constitutional limits.

Anyone notice that since Comey was fired but for the leaks on his "MEMOS", there have been no more "INTEL" leaks?!
