Trump Party: Italian Politician Borrows President’s Name

ROME — Donald Trump may be working to make America great again, but Gianni Musetti is hoping the president will help do the same for Italy.

The right-wing mayoral hopeful has gone so far as to launch the "Trump Party" in ancient Tuscan town of Carrara.

"I have known who Trump is for a long time because I am a big fan of wrestling," said Musetti, referring to Trump's links to the WWE. "Then, when I watched his rise to power, I saw in him the leader that we in Italy haven't had for years."

The 31-year-old said "Trump" was an obvious name for his new party because he sees the president as the heir to Italy's last strong conservative leader — Silvio Berlusconi, the billionaire who was elected prime minister four times before being ousted in 2011.

"They are very similar," said Musetti, who is also the leader of the right-wing "Gioventu' italiana" youth movement.

"They are both successful businessmen who gave up a comfortable life to get into politics at the service of the people," he added. "And they are both attacked by the media and the judiciary, who don't like their politically incorrect way of doing things."

Berlusconi had his share of problems with the judiciary, having been accused of everything from bribery to paying for sex with a minor.

Mostly, he has racked up a string of acquittals, sometimes due to the statute of limitations expiring. Other cases against him are still pending.

Musetti will run for mayor this spring as the Trump Party's candidate. Then he plans to take it to the national level.

Italy and the United States share common problems, he said, and Italy should learn from the example of Trump on immigrants. Trump accused Mexican immigrants of being "rapists" and "criminals" and his controversial executive order temporarily barred entry to the U.S. for citizens of seven Muslim-majority nations.

"Look at immigration," said Musetti, who comes from a long line of marble sellers. "We have been invaded by migrants in the past few years, and our government has been incapable of dealing with it. We can't build a wall with North Africa, obviously, because there's a sea between us, but it's time to stop them from coming in one way or another."

Italy juts into the Mediterranean Sea close to North Africa and the Middle East. Italy has seen waves of migrants fleeing poverty and war — around 180,000 during 2016 alone — although many do not stay in the country, according to experts.

Once the mayoral election is behind him, Musetti said, he will focus on expanding the party across Italy.

"I am overwhelmed with requests to join the party," he told NBC News. "I can't keep up with them. I still have 1,500 messages on Facebook I didn't have time to read, and every day I get calls from all over Italy from people who want to start their own Trump Party, from north to south."

Musetti thinks the message will resonate across Italy — and beyond.

"Trump may be the president of the United States but he speaks for the disillusioned right-wing electorate across the world," he said.

    And here comes Italy!!

We have England, proof is Brexit. We have France I hope, proof will be Marine Le Pen. We have the Netherlands I hope, the proof will be Geert Wilders. And now we have the Trump Party in Italy.

The EU hasn't been good for Europe, best I can tell. I had no personal issue with a trade agreement among the countries, although I prefer bilateral agreements. The problem with the EU was that no sooner was the trade deal done than they tried to form an EU Nation with an EU Constitution. That exposed these globalists socialist bureaucratic hegemonists for what they were and the French and the Dutch stopped it and with that, the English said if France is opposed to it, we're not even wasting our time voting on it. Yes, the beautiful intelligent French people ACTUALLY READ THE DAMN THING, and were shocked with what it was and voted no.

So the Constitution thing died, but since then, they've used this EU Commission, this EU "government" in Belgium to enslave these countries to a globalist-socialist tyranny and that is just not right. They deceived the people of these countries saying it was about trade and business when it wasn't, it was about an EU Tyranny to control the people and nations of Europe.

What would be the objectives of such a group trying to do this? Makes no sense. Then we see the immigration thing. Redistribution. Globalist Hell on Earth. Poor Europe.

To our dear friends in Europe, do not think of yourselves as Europeans. We do not think of ourselves as North Americans. We think only of ourselves as Americans of the United States. Think of yourselves as British, Scottish, Irish, French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Greek, Portuguese, Swiss, Fins, Swedes, Germans, Polish, Hungarian, Russian. There is nothing wrong with that. From our perspective here in the States, we love thinking of you as of your country. We don't think of you on a day to day basis as Europeans. We never did. We always thought of you through your nation-state identity. I'm sure we always will.

Remember, in psychology, labels and generalizations are for either the ignorant incapable of grasping or the lazy unwilling to deal with the details and components of a more complex reality. Trying to relabel all your countries as "Europe" instead of recognizing and respecting you as the many individual nation-states you actually are, is to try to generalize you out of existence by relabeling you with a single identity. This is what stupid people do and is how authoritarians exploit that weakness.

Be strong. Be you. Be English. Be French. Be Dutch. Be Italian. Be Greek. Be Finnish. Be Swiss. Be Swedish. Be Irish. Be Portuguese. Be Polish. Be Hungarian. Be Belgian. Be German. Be Russian. I'm sure I've left some out, but you get my point.

    Good luck!!

PS: On the Trump Party, name, as much as I like their support and where that's coming from, Trump organization will probably challenge that on trademark violations.

They can't build a Wall but they should put barges in the water to apprehend them, process them, and send them RIGHT back. Destroy the boats. They will stop paying coyotes and the invasion will be greatly reduced.
