Donald Trump has stolen the lead from Hillary Clinton and secured a 2-point advantage over his rival, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released Tuesday evening.
For the first time since May, the GOP nominee has received a greater percentage of support from likely voters than the Democratic nominee.
The business mogul received 39 percent of support in the July 22-26 poll, which started the day after the Republican National Convention in Cleveland concluded.
In the last Reuters poll, taken during the convention between July 18 and July 22, Clinton took in 41 percent of the vote, but dropped to 37 percent over the weekend. Trump has only gained 1 point since the convention, indicating Republicans' harsh comments about Clinton scared some of her supporters, but did not bring in many undecided voters, 24 percent of whom remain unaffiliated.
The survey's 4 percent margin of error means the candidates are neck-and-neck. Candidates typically get a boost following party conventions, which could put Clinton back in the lead by next week.
The poll was conducted online in English with about 1,000 likely voters.

Somebody PLEASE get after the Gary Johnson supporters. I read somewhere 9 percent of US voters. Hard to believe, eh?
The bright side is that nearly two thirds of the country does not like Hillary. IMO, Trump needs a huge dose of humility. I think his smart mouth is a turnoff, and he is not patient enough to actually explain the GOP position. There is a reason why politician springs from the word "polite". It's supposed to be a divine calling.
But now is the time to seize the opportunity. Even if more scandals come out in the Dem Party, they have the Media to cover for them."Men of low degree are vanity, Men of high degree are a lie. " David
