Thread: After-school ILLEGALS? NEVER!

Today I was urged to volunteer for the newly installed after-school program to tutor children in various subjects. I was told that I would be ESPECIALLY valued because I know Spanish and Portuguese as well as English. However, I was UNEASY about this because I wanted to MAKE sure there were NO ILLEGAL alien CHILDREN NOR CHILDREN of ILLEGALS among those whom I would be asked to tutor. I had done previous volunteer teaching of English to Latino Catholic priests and children, as had my Brazilian friend, but CARE was TAKEN to ENSURE that EVERY student of ours was here LEGALLY. Somehow I DON'T feel that THIS SAME caution is being taken with the new after-school program. I will NOT volunteer to teach ILLEGAL children, whether BROUGHT HERE ILLEGALLY by their families, NOR the AMERICAN-born children of ILLEGALS. NOR will my Brazilian friend. We are being EXCORIATED for this, but my Brazilian friend says that if WE were in THEIR countries ILLEGALLY and acted like THEY do HERE, WE would be considered AND treated as CRIMINALS! She says that illegal aliens ARE illegal NO matter WHAT country they are in--INCLUDING OURS, and that illegals HERE ALSO DESERVE punishment for breaking OUR laws. She says that she will NOT AID and ABET ILLEGAL immigration by tutoring ILLEGAL children. I feel the SAME way!
