San Antonio (AP) - Texas has started broadcasting live images of the U.S. border on the Internet in a security program that asks the public to report signs of illegal immigration or drug crimes.

A test Web site went live Thursday at texasborderwatch.com with views from eight cameras and ways for viewers to e-mail reports of suspicious activity. Previously, the images had only been available to law enforcement and landowners where the cameras are located.

“There is only one way to test it, and that’s open it up for business,” said Texas Homeland Security Director Steve McCraw.

Some civil rights groups have criticized the “virtual border watch,” saying it will instill fear in border communities and could lead to fraudulent crime reports and racial profiling.

You need Windows Media Player....it should prompt you to download it along with another small viewer program. That's what it did with me anyway.

Yeah, I have to admit, I am sooo tired of that racial stuff being thrown around. It has gotten older than my car, and that's pretty old.

It is so apparent that whatever means we decide to secure our borders it is going to be maligned as racism, it is getting so much easier to ignore the racism, they are using that word so much it is losing any meaning whatsoever.

It's ironic, if you complain about a bunch of rednecks with a half-dozen kids running around wild with junk and trash all over the place, nobody thinks anything of it.......do the same with mesicans and you are a racist! You complain about a white or black person playing music at 2 am and nobody pays any mind.....do the same with a hispanic and you are a racist! You are also a racist if you don't like hearing the loud chatter of spanish coming from all directions. Well they have to have something to do and when you are devoid of any debatable ideas....you yell racist! That's always a "feel good" tactic for them. If they only knew just how little we thought of it and how totally ignorant it makes them sound................like I said, it's comical!

I`m at the Border Watch site right now.

It`s real interesting. The sites still under construction buthere are 9 videos to watch roads, check points and fields.

At the bottom of the page is a like for suggestions and ideas. I think we all should check it ou and find easier ways to operate this site.

one example is, how are they going to handle each email that comes in?
Maybe have an "elert link" for each video.
Stuff like that.
