Istanbul, Turkey – News is breaking at this hour that Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan has phoned US President Barack Obama and notified him that Turkey will no longer keep the lanes open for flow of weapons to the rebels fighting against the Syrian government from either the United States or NATO. Some experts speculate this is in response to a growing fear by the Turks of Russian involvement in the region (after recent large scale Russian military exercises). Some 700 US troops are confirmed to be in Turkey as part of a joint training exercise between the US and Jordan. Missile batteries, fighter jets and communication equipment are already on the ground in the region from those maneuvers. Unconfirmed is the status of those troops as the story breaks, however most circles are saying they are on high alert. This news comes as Secretary of the State, John Kerry, was touring a Syrian refugee camp in Jordan today. The camp, located near the border with Syria, houses a reported 115,000 people, most frustrated with the US response to the conflict. As refugees came up to Secretary Kerry and asked him where the international community was, he replied, “As you know, we’ve been fighting two wars for 12 years. We are trying to help in various ways, including helping Syrian opposition fighters have weapons. We are doing new things. There is consideration of buffer zones and other things, but it is not as simple as it sounds.” Even as John Kerry continues to claim the weapons are flowing, conflicting reports say otherwise. Finally from the Syrian conflict, the Jerusalem Post is reporting that it is highly likely Syrian President Bashar Assad has his chemical weapons on the move, with the aid of the Iranians. (Even though other reports and evidence suggest it’s actually the terrorist rebels who in fact have used chemical weapons) A spokesman for the Free Syrian Army has said the Damascus regime has delivered a chemical weapons shipment to Hezbollah, Lebanese news site el-Nashra reported on Thursday. In the report it is claimed the weapons have made their way to Lebanon, coming within striking distance to the Israeli Borders.

Cairo, Egypt – Pro -Morsi Muslim Brotherhood Supporters issued a Fattaha today, claiming that tomorrow will be a day of bloodshed and holy war with the Copts (the sect in Egypt that the Brotherhood blames for the removal of Mursi). The leaflet, which was approved by the Brotherhood’s guidance department calls for “escalating protests until President Mohamed Mursi is returned to power” and asks all to besiege public buildings and officials. Interestingly enough, tomorrow at 3 p.m. (when the leaflet calls for the protests and violence) is the anniversary of the 1973 October War during Ramadan.Elsewhere in Egypt, along the border with Israel and the Gaza Strip, Muslim Brotherhood forces have cut off the roads between the countries and the attacks are becoming increasingly coordinated. They are the combined forces of Hamas, Muslim Brotherhood and Salafist Bedoiun fighters against police and military personnel. The US has roughly 2,600 troops in the immediate area on high alert since the crisis began in Egpyt. Israeli intel is also suggesting that the Brotherhood and Hamas are using tunnels through blockades to the Gaza Strip, possibly setting up a major attack on the capitol city.1,000 MFO troops, including Americans, have been caught in the crossfire on the roads between Egypt and Israel and all vehicles are being attacked with anti-tank weaponry. As the Brotherhood picks up steam in their response to the ouster of Mursi, the region is devolving into a tinder box waiting to explode.

Moscow, Russia – Russian President Vladimir Putin large scale military exercises continue with reports now coming in that in addition to the 160,000 troops mobilized there is also 5000 Russian tanks, 130 aircraft and 70 ships. ”Today we can be proud of our army,” Putin said. Most experts agree now that the massive undertaking is aimed at showing off to the Chinese, Japanese and the United States. Even though the Russians and Chinese made a “fragile” partnership after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Kremlin has grown very weary of the expansion in power of China. The mobilization drill is expected to run right through the rest of the week.Reported back in late June was an entire military pullout of Russian personnel at the Syrian Tartus naval supply station, Russia’s only military base outside the former USSR. Questions were raised when Putin made the decision, but with his recent flaunting off of power to show the world that the Russian military hasn’t lost it’s step, it now does not seem to be that surprising. With Turkey cutting the US government to the Syrian rebels, Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood rapidly escalating toward an all out war with Egyptian military and Israeli forces, Russia flexing it’s muscles to send a signal to it’s number one geo-political foe (the USA) it’s shaping up to be a hot summer. There’s no telling when the temperature in the region will begin to taper off.
