I can hardly wait until after the voting is done. It will have national implications that may even affect NY and NYC.

I am so proud of my state right now. But the Catholic Church has been throwing a hissy fit since it was announced this bill would go on the ballot for voters to decide.

So, the Church has its work cut out for it. In a sense, I am glad the opponents of the DREAM Act have put this measure on the ballot. It gives the Church a great opportunity to engage the political process at a deeper level, and to instruct our people in how our faith informs our politics, not just the other way round. Let’s hope the Catholic community rises to the occasion. The bishops appear to have done so. Now, it is up to us in the laity to make the case to our fellow citizens: We do not punish children for the decisions of their parents, we don’t cut off our noses to spite our faces and, most importantly, if you assault the human dignity of anyone, from the unborn to the immigrant, you are going to have to climb over the Catholic Church to get your way.

That's a funny clip, HippieChick. As a Catholic, I have lost ALL respect for the Church, after seeing how they hid their pedophile priests. I guess they thought it was OK to punish and assault the human dignity of OUR children with their disgusting acts,eh? They remained silent while OUR children were molested, but have "found" their voice for illegal aliens?

Disgusting and oh-so transparent...GREED.

A week or two ago, on the news, there was a Catholic bishop who was outraged this bill was going to be put to the ballot so the voters could decide its fate. He said he would make sure he had access to the list of names who signed the petition, and that he would personally contact every one of us to talk some sense into us. I have a feeling this is all gonna get very, very ugly, and I just hope the national spotlight stays on this issue here in Maryland. If Catholic priests start knocking on doors demanding us to change our vote, I can see a lot of people getting really offended by it all, and the Catholic church quite possibly losing many parishioners in the process.
