U.S. shutdown: Citizens denied government services while illegal aliens rally

by Jim Kouri on October 10, 2013

While the Obama administration barricaded a World War II memorial in order to deny veterans access to its National Mall location in Washington D.C., illegal aliens and their supporters, including several Democrat lawmakers, such as Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., were permitted to hold a rally on Tuesday demanding rights for illegal immigrants, according to a report on Wednesday from a watchdog group that investigates and exposes government and political corruption.

Tuesday’s pro-illegal immigration rally included a free concert complete with sound system, a stage and other government-provided material and equipment, according to Judicial Watch, a nonprofit, nonpartisan public interest organization.
Meanwhile, the news media reported that “trespassers” to the now “closed Grand Canyon” were arrested by law enforcement for trying to sneak past the barricades, according to the Jon Justice Show on 104.1 fm, Truth Radio, in Tucson, Ariz. on Wednesday morning when it was guest hosted by Doug Kellett.
An angry lawmaker, Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Texas, wrote on Twitter: “Obama closed the National Mall to WWII vets. You can visit it tomorrow, but only if you’re in the illegal alien rally.”
Stockman referred to veterans who were not permitted to visit the National World War II Memorial on the National Mall during the first day of the government shutdown.
As a result, Judicial Watch filed a public records request with the Department of the Interior for information related to blocking public access to national monuments in Washington D.C.
JW is also investigating how the illegal immigrant groups received a government permit to hold their event when the area was ordered closed due to the government shutdown.
The rally was promoted in English and Spanish as the “March for Immigrant Dignity and Respect.”
It was hosted by a number of groups including the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) and a variety of other community organizations as well as Mexican airline company Aero Mexico.
According to the group’s web site:
“Camino Americano” is the Washington DC exclamation point on hundreds of actions across the country for immigrant dignity and respect. Tens of thousands will come to the National Mall to share stories of suffering and strength and demand passage of commonsense immigration reform. Confirmed speakers range from civil rights legend Julian Bond to Maryland mom Alicia Silva, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi to iconic singer Lila Downs. Starting with a somber reading of the names of people who have died at the border or been deported, it will close with a rousing march to the U.S. Capitol where hundreds of national leaders will take hard-hitting action to send a message to Congress – the Time is Now: America Needs Immigration Reform.
“How does one equate being deported back to Mexico with being killed at the border? And who exactly are they memorializing? It certainly is Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry,” said former NYPD officer Iris Aquino.
“It appears that the Obama administration unscrupulously gave the organizers of the immigrant rally special treatment,” according to Judicial Watch.
Even the mainstream media was forced to acknowledge this with one national news organization saying:
“After seeing a group of veterans forced to move aside barriers to access the World War II Memorial last week, some are upset over what they see as the Obama administration giving preferential treatment to a group pushing for one his biggest legislative priorities.”
