Thread: Uh Oh, Nominee for Labor Secretary Alex Acosta Rings Amnesty Alarm Bells

Hlda Solis is who I thought of after reading about President Trump's Labor Secretary choice, R. Alexander Acosta. His background and praise from La Raza, MALDEF, LULAC, and others for amnesty does not seem like he is a good choice. One of the other candidates President Trump interviewed was a vocal opponent of illegal immigration. I believe that Mr. Acosta was picked in part or for the biggest part to check off the hispanic cabinet member box.

Mr. Acosta will be working for President Trump so he will be expected to follow the President's directives, just as Hilda Solis followed the directives of Obama, which was do anything you can to help illegal aliens.

And he is conservative and a Republican even though he won't be as good as Puzder would have been, he can be better than what we have now. Trump was going to use Labor Department as part of the enforcement, as well as do things to increase jobs for Americans. These were things Puzder knew how to do really well. Acosta doesn't have that skill set, knowledge or apparent motivation. He'll probably be hiding behind the "race" and the "courts". But, we'll see. Trump is very convincing and has changed a lot of minds on our issue, maybe Acosta's too.

Yes Mr. Acosta will be working for the President. However, I would imagine someone in that position would also have influence and input on directives coming out of the White House. The same thing happens in the corporate world. Department heads are normally afforded the opportunity to offer input on directives that directly impact their department. With that said, all we can do is hope for the best.

Yep, set a few examples and the rest would probably wake up pretty darn quickly. The current fine system being utilized is just considered the cost of doing business.
