Candidates pander on immigration?

When John McCain or Barack Obama takes the oath of office on Jan. 20, the American public will likely have a pretty clear idea of what they expect of the new president and the new Congress. Whoever the new president may be, he will be faced with a slumping economy, a deepening mortgage crisis, a shaky stock market, an unpopular war in Iraq and, on the winter day he is sworn in, the prospect that millions of Americans will be unable to afford to heat their homes, much less run their cars.

What they most certainly will not expect of the new administration is a protracted effort to “solveâ€
