University of Iowa Football Team Endorses Donald Trump: ‘What a Team!’

    by ALEX SWOYER

    Washington, DC

GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump was endorsed by the University of Iowa Hawkeye football team on Tuesday night at his rally in Iowa City, Iowa.

“The next Tom Brady…and I know Tom and He’s a great guy,” Trump said as he pointed at the University of Iowa quarterback and brought the Iowa football team onstage.“What a team!”

“They endorsed Trump,” the real estate mogul announced to the crowd. “I like them.”

The crowd chanted, “Let’s go Hawks!”

The Hawkeyes played in the Rosebowl Game, where there was anti-Trump skywriting over the 2016 Rose Parade.

The majority of these folks are between the ages of 18 and 23 years of age. Most of them probably haven't even developed a true sense of where their beliefs are on political issues. However, I'm betting many of them have watched the Celebrity Apprentice before. During my college football days I would have been surprised if any of my teammates, me included, could have even told you who the Secretary of Defense was.

These players were probably influenced by their coach, athletic director, or someone else in a position of authority over them. Trust me, football is their priority, everything else is way down the list in importance for them.

They're the same age group that protested at great risk to end the War in Vietnam. They're the same age as the Mizzouri football players who boycotted the football game to stand up for BlackLivesMatter and brought down a University President and a University Chancellor. They're the same age as all the Berniei Sanders young people who are sending him like rocket over Hillary Clinton ... in Iowa. They're the same age as my great grandfather who volunteered as soon as he turned 18 to join the Union Army to fight and/or die to end slavery in the United States. They're the same age as my nephew who is 19, works and goes to college, and he knows as much or more about the candidates and issues than I do.

Based on that, their opinion is more than valid seems to me.
