Subject: BEAUFORT COUNTY ORDINANCE: LAWFUL EMPLOYMENT ORDINANCE

Hi Everyone,

At the Beaufort County Council Meeting, it was decided to postpone the vote on the Lawful Employment Ordinance until they addressed the proposed changes to it. The next Committee meeting to vote on the changes will be held on Wed., Dec. 6th at 3 p.m. in Beaufort. We will be able to learn about the changes. I will be attending this meeting and if any of you can attend, please let me know.

After the Committee votes on the changes, the Ordinance will be voted on at the next County Council Meeting to be held on Monday, Dec. 11th at 4 p.m. IF YOU WISH TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL ON THIS ORDINANCE, YOU MUST BE THERE TO MAKE YOUR COMMENTS AT 4 P.M. BECAUSE AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH MEETING, THE PUBLIC CAN SPEAK ON ANY SUBJECT. THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO LET YOU POSITION BE KNOWN.

THE OPPOSITION GROUP IS WELL ORGANIZED AND WELL FUNDED. THEY BROUGHT IN A LAWYER FROM NEW JERSEY WHO IS PART OF THE PUERTO RICAN DEFENSE FUND GROUP. THEY ARE WORKING HARD TO DEFEAT THIS ORDINANCE.

NOW, WE MUST PULL TOGETHER TO GET HEARD ON THIS ORDINANCE IF WE WANT IT PASSED. WE NEED EACH OF YOU TO SEND E-MAILS TO THE COUNCIL MEMBERS EXCEPT YOU MUST CALL COUNCILMAN VON HARTEN SINCE HE DOES NOT READ E-MAILS. PLEASE GET YOUR CONCERNED FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS INVOLVED. FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO THEM.

FOR THOSE OF YOU ON HILTON HEAD ISLAND, IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO CALL FRANK BRAFMAN ALSO. WE NEED HIS VOTE.
