Navy Federal Credit Union in trouble?

    Friends,

I just got a call from an ALIPAC supporter that is in a military family. They said that their family members cannot get into their bank accounts today with Navy Federal Credit Union.

Anyone know what is going on?

Should we all run to the bank to get our money out?

Does anyone know what is going on?

    I'll ask around.

Their customer service stinks and it's a damn shame that our millitary men and women have to deal with that. Don't even get me started on Tri-Care Insurance.

I have just called 5 of their toll free numbers at various locations and every line is busy.

    That's hard to figure!

Navy Federal Credit Union -- As of 12 p.m. EDT, there were four search terms related to the Navy Federal Credit Union in Google's Top 10 searched terms. It doesn't appear as though it's in the news at all, but the site has been down, so that could account for people searching for it.

Have worked with a major local credit union years ago. When the computers went down, the branches would still make withdrawals and depositing available, but not through any ATM's. All financial matters had to be done at branch level when the system was down.

Maybe this is what is happening, but....they are supposed to make the customers accounts still available, if they are not, they can and should be in trouble.

    Navy Federal Power Outage

A power outage at Navy Federal Credit Union's headquarters has left all of their systems down. There is a note on the door of the branch at 302 Western Blvd. that reads:

"Due to a power outage within our headquarters building all systems are currently down. Your transactions are limited. We apologize for the inconvenience."

The Daily News was told this system failure is worldwide. More information soon as it becomes available to us.

    Whoa!

    Let me get this straight???

No building generator feeding an online UPS with bypass switch and then the actual equipement use to power CPE, Public and Private network elements as well as central servers and workstations?

Not even local rackmount UPS equipment?

Did someone forget to top off the diesel tank for the generator?

I'm sorry...either this "FEDERAL" credit union didn't bother to structure for 24/7 365 operation or someone fell down on the job. Don't have to do it for branches - but definitely for the central office as they are interfacing to nationwide transaction services and larger banks. Since telecom circuits are CO-LO dc powered - tellernet would be available...

...waiting for someone to lose their job...breathlessly waiting...
