Nearly any type of produce can be harvested mechanically--at about ten times the rate of a human picker and 24 hours a day, to boot. Other industrialized countries that have not had a large, cheap labor supply available have been pushing ahead with devices----Australia, Japan, Italy, France. But there is plenty to see at the agricultural fairs, anyway, such as the upcoming WorldAgExpo, in Tulare CA:

Types of produce that were deemed too fragile, for example, can be genetically modified; the Roma tomato was designed in the 1960's to be picked by machine. Raspberries can be vacuumed off the vine. Blueberries bushes are rapidly flopped back and forth by sensitive plastic or metal wands that knock the tiny berries off very rapidly.
You Tube has many videos of machines in action in the field. I thought the DeWulf carrot harvester, doing the work of twenty people, was a good one to start with:
