BY PATRICK SVITEK FEB. 15, 2018 UPDATED: 1 PM

Vice President Mike Pence is coming to Texas this weekend to tour the state's border with Mexico and raise money for fellow Republicans.

Pence is set to arrive Friday morning in San Antonio, where he will first attend a fundraiser for Trump Victory, a group that benefits President Donald Trump's re-election campaign and the Republican National Committee.

Pence will then travel to McAllen to see the border with U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, according to his office. In McAllen, he also will meet with local law enforcement and participate in an immigration roundtable with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, will accompany Pence on the border tour, according to a White House official.

On Saturday, the trip will take Pence to Dallas, where he will start his day with an appearance at a tax reform event hosted by America First Policies, an advocacy group affiliated with the pro-Trump super PAC America First Action. At the morning gathering, Pence is expected to tout the GOP tax overhaul that Trump signed into law last year, along with U.S. Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and two Republican Dallas congressmen: Jeb Hensarling and Pete Sessions.

Also in Dallas, Pence is set to star at a fundraiser for Protect the House, a joint fundraising committee boosting vulnerable GOP members of Congress. The effort, which also involves the National Republican Congressional Committee, is being spearheaded by Pence and U.S. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California, who is expected to attend the Dallas event in addition to Sessions and Hensarling.

Pence will end his day in Dallas with a previously announced appearance at the Dallas County GOP's Reagan Day Dinner, where he will be the keynote speaker.

Mike Pence: Trump administration remains committed to border wall, despite lack of funding

Vice President Mike Pence said Monday that the Trump administration remains committed to building the border wall, despite Congress‘ lack of action on the issue.
“President Trump made a commitment to the American people that we’re going to build a wall. That means we’re going to have a physical barrier on our southern border,” Mr. Pence said on Fox News.

He said they’re going to continue talks with Congress, and building will be a swift process once the funds are allocated.

“I guarantee this builder-turned-president will build that wall faster than you can imagine,” Mr. Pence said.

The Senate failed to pass any of the immigration proposals last week pushing them closer to the March 5 deadline for those protected under the Obama-era policy Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Mr. Trump ended the DACA program after pending legal issues and gave Congress six months to reach an agreement.

Mr. Pence said that due to Congress‘ inaction, this group remains in limbo until an agreement is reached.
