Great article. Jorge bush sure ain't no Ike. It's up to us to force that reaction now.

Eisenhower cleared the mess up in the early 50's.

By the mid 60's they were starting to "pile up" again. In the mid 60's there was a BIG amnesty (led by Ted Kennedy and cronies).

Over the next couple of years things were not too bad, but then the illegal boom started again and we had the giant amnesty in the mid 80's (led by Ted Kennedy and cronies).

For awhile things again were not too bad.

In 1989 GHW Bush was elected and from there on it has been downhill all the way.

The current crop of illegal aliens have come in during the BUSH/CLINTON/BUSH administrations. We know Clinton had other things on his mind!!!!!

Basically, the whole illegal alien fiasco can be laid mostly at the feet of the BUSH duo.

Eisenhower wasn't afraid of being tagged a "racist." For American politicians these days, that's a kiss of death.

When these things were done in the past, they were not considered "racist" - they were just a normal thing that ANY country would do for itself and it's citizens.

Now, if we decide that we cannot take care of more and more illegals, and they keep coming in and taking our services and not paying taxes unless they stole your social security number(!), we are called "racist" because there must not be any other reason for keeping these people out. Like it has nothing to do with our tax money, our culture, our hospitals, our schools, our language, our depressed wages, etc!

They push that a lot on TV news - this label of racist for anything against immigration - legal and illegal. The media buys right into it, and emphasizes it to the public. They make it seem like THIS is what the real problem is, and that, obviously, we don't want THAT.

You are SO right on that! Political Correctness was not a problem in Ike's day. And as you look at history as a time line from that point on you see how toxic and oppressive it has become to our political system. It really should be called Political Cleansing. Lenin would have been proud.

By comparison, yesterday's newspaper stated that DHS had "stepped up efforts" in 2006 to apprehend considerably more illegal aliens than in previous years, ostensibly in response to the clamor over the immigration bill. This effort was "targeted", rather than a general sweep, to catch the 300,000 plus illegal aliens already under deportation orders, but still at large in the US. Oh, by the way, the result of the "stepped up effort" was around 4,800 arrests for the entire year. Ike's operation did 50,000 in less than six weeks.

They did it in the 50s with less resources than we have now, we can do it now. We can put a man on the moon, secure Korean borders and we cannot close our borders and control illegal immigration.
Start enforcinging the laws we already have and they will leave on their own.

The racist are those who want to give racial preference to guest workers from Mexico. Guest workers should come from other countries beside south of our border.
There is no such thing as a temporary guesty worker. If they can produce an anchor babies to add to the 4 million that they already have, they will not be asked to leave or deported.
