A Fort Worth woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver as she crossed Harry Hines Boulevard late Thursday.

Teresa Rodriguez, 42, was running across the six-lane road with her 20-year-old daughter shortly after 11 p.m. when she was hit just north of Northwest Highway. They were not using a crosswalk.

Police said Rodriguez rolled onto the car’s hood and struck the front windshield before falling onto the pavement on her head. She landed 90 feet from the initial impact with severe injuries to her neck, chest and leg.

She was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead about midnight.

The driver fled south on Harry Hines. Police are looking for 23-year-old Jose Samuel Castillo, described as a person of interest in the case.

Castillo’s record includes two traffic violations in 2009, one for driving with a suspended license and another for having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.

The suspect vehicle was described as a white 2002 Dodge Stratus two-door with Texas license plate TLB044. It has damage to its driver’s side and a hole in the windshield.

Anyone with information about the crash can call Dallas police at 214-670-5818.
