Son to testify on Cintas death

!
The son of a man killed at a Cintas laundry facility in Tulsa, Okla., last month plans to testify before Congress today in support of legislation aimed at expanding federal safety laws to protect workers.
Eleazar Torres-Gomez, 46, died March 6 when he was dragged by a conveyor belt into an industrial-size dryer and trapped for at least 20 minutes.
His son, Emanuel Torres-Gomez, and other family members of workplace accident victims will testify before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.
Following the hearing, they'll join Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., chairman of the committee, to reintroduce the Protecting America's Workers Act.
Cincinnati-based Cintas is North America's largest uniform-rental company.
Cintas CEO Scott Farmer said in a statement that he was "deeply saddened" by the death, but said Torres-Gomez "did not follow established safety rules" when "he climbed on top of a moving conveyor to dislodge a jam."http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070426/NEWS01/704260384
