Since I'm new here, I'll give a quick introduction. My name is Frank Beard. I'm a sophmore political science major at Drake University in Des Moines, IA.

Along with a fellow conservative, I started a group called Citizens for Tight Borders. Our purpose is to work against illegal immigration and educate students at our campus and the local community on the issue. As far as I know, we're one of the first college groups to do this (I looked for hours and found nothing).

Last week, I put up around 250 posters that served as an introduction for our poster campaign over the next few weeks. I posted a link to the PDF at on this thread:

I picked up our campus newspaper today and wow, these posters caused a huge uproar. According to the article on the front page, a lot of the hispanic students are calling it "racist" (which was to be expected), the student senate had a heated discussion about it, and they recommended that international relations' professors hold a forum about the issue to inform our students on the real facts.

So, apparently we're getting attention.

Over the next two weeks, we're going to be rolling out a huge poster campaign. I've got five "did you know?" posters and five "illegal immigration myths" posters.

I just thought I'd let you guys know what we're doing. This might be very interesting since we'll be getting very active soon and our school is sure to fight us on it. For those of you that don't know, Iowa colleges are OBSESSED with the term "diversity" and do everything they can to get more non-white students to enroll. The Des Moines Register has done a lot of articles comparing the "diversity" on our campuses and its become a huge issue. So, they certainly won't like this. One of the girls from La Fuerena Latina (sp?) even said she has never felt so "out of place" here after our posters.

I'll keep you guys updated on what we're up to and what takes place. If anyone has any advice or anything of value to let me know, please post it here and I'll be sure to check.

EDIT:

On this thread I included links to the two new posters we're putting up tonight:
