    President Obama Keeps Telling Lies

    By Onan Coca / 23 October 2013

In just a short 45 second clip we are going to hear the President of the United States tell us two lies in quick succession. Are you ready?

“About three weeks ago, as the federal government shutdown, and the Affordable Care Act’s health insurance marketplaces opened up across the country,” said Obama. “Well, we’ve now gotten the government back open for the American people and today I want to talk about how we’re going to get the marketplaces running at full steam as well.

And I’m joined today by folks who’ve either benefitted from the Affordable Care Act already or who are helping their fellow citizens learn about what this law means for them and how they can get covered.”

Lie number one: the website sucks because of the government shutdown.

No, Mr. President, the shutdown has nothing to do with the Obamacare website being terrible. The Obama administration had three years to get this website ready for primetime, and its failure is entirely the fault of the Obama administration. Just because the website launched the day the government shut down doesn’t mean the shutdown affected the site. That’s not how the internet works… but if you think it is, that may explain why the site is so awful.

Lie number two: the crowd behind him has “benefitted” from Obamacare already.
The President added a second condition, which has to be the more accurate statement – “or who are helping their fellow citizens learn about what this law means for them and how they can get covered.”

In the big crowd of folks behind the President only 3 had signed up for Obamacare. Hard to benefit from something when you haven’t even signed up. So basically what the President was really saying is – “This crowd of people behind me all work for my administration – they’re trying to help people to figure out how to sign up for Obamacare because my website sucks.”

Is it too much to ask that our President at least try to pretend that he’s telling us the truth?

Consumer Reports says Stay Away from Obamacare Website

    By Onan Coca / 23 October 2013

The well-known consumer advocate magazine (and web site) Consumer Reports has some very important information for all Americans. Stay away from the Obamacare website! It has been an extremely frustrating first month for anyone who may have had high hopes to one day be enrolled in a government run healthcare system. Consumer Reports has a long history of reviewing various products and services for consumers so that we don’t have to enter purchasing situations without any background information on the produce. They are a trusted source for this kind of information, and people are likely to listen to them now.

Over the last few weeks, Consumer Reports has been keeping up with the Obamacare website in an effort to keep their clientele as up to date as possible with the system. Since the very beginning, they have been reporting on innumerable difficulties with the website and the enrolling process, all the while warning their readers to, if at all possible, stay away from the website.

Frustrated by trying to register on HealthCare.gov? You're hardly alone. Of the 9.47 million people who tried to register in the first week, only 271,000 were able to create an account, according to one analysis. That's about 1 in 35. Many people couldn't even create user names and passwords.
    (Emphasis mine)

This is not good news for the Obama administration that is already dealing with a myriad of other problems. This is, however, a great example of why elections are so important. If you elect a corrupt and inept government, they are not only going to mess up the issues that come across their paths, they are also going to create lots of new problems that you’re going to have to deal with. Electing a bad government is a double-whammy.
We recommend opting out of Obamacare altogether[1], and paying for your medical expenses directly. However, if you must buy Obamacare, take heed of Consumer Reports important message: “If all this is too much for you to absorb, follow our previous advice: Stay away from Healthcare.gov for at least another month if you can. Hopefully that will be long enough for its software vendors to clean up the mess they’ve made.”

    No Representation Without Taxation!

    By Michael Minkoff / 24 October 2013 /

“No taxation without representation!” It was one of the rallying cries of the Founding Fathers. They refused to be taxed by a distant government in which they had no voice and no representative. But I doubt they ever thought the inverse problem would become the norm in the country they fought and toiled and bled to establish.

Today, 43% of Americans have no federal income tax liability at all. Meaning they pay no federal income taxes. This doesn’t mean they pay no taxes at all, of course. They still pay excise taxes and sales tax, property taxes (at least through their rent), and small local fees here and there.

But this doesn’t change the fact that nearly half of all Americans “have no skin in the game,” yet are still allowed to vote. I think it would be wise to make proof of taxation a prerequisite for voting. If you pay into the system, you should have a say. Otherwise, no.

As Benjamin Franklin said, “When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.” Well, herald it then. Or how about this one, also from Franklin: “Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.”

Think about Obamacare. I haven’t talked to one of my friends yet that hasn’t seen a marked hike in his insurance rates because of Obamacare. You know why? Because apparently my friends are working, taxpaying individuals. The only people (apparently) who benefit from Obamacare are people who aren’t paying for Obamacare. (Duh.)

So it seems obvious that those people (nearing on the majority of Americans) who stand to gain the most personally from new disbursements of other people’s money should not be allowed to vote. Perhaps our rallying cry today should be, “No representation without taxation!” Don’t pay taxes? Then you shouldn’t be allowed to vote. Seems so simple.
