Thread: Who is Jacques Attali the Kissinger of Europe?

I believe every American needs to know who this guy is.

He is the Senior advisor on the European Union.

Jacques Attali (born 1943) is a French economist and scholar. From 1981 to 1991, he was a French presidential adviser as a part of the country's socialist experiment.

In April 1991 he became the first President of the London-based European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the financial institution established by western governments to assist the countries of eastern and central Europe and the former Soviet Union in their transition to democratic market economies. He was forced to leave this position in July 1993 following a major scandal.

Attali is perhaps best known in America as the author of Noise: The Political Economy of Music, ISBN 0816612870, which bears a foreward by Frederic Jameson and afterward by Susan McClary.

Professor, writer, special adviser to Frangois Mitterand from 1981 to 1990, and founder and first president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development 1991 to 1993, Jacques Attali is now chairman of A&A, an investment bank and private equity vehicle specializing in the development of European IT start-ups, from software to genomics. His main work in economics and sociology has been on the main trends in human history and their use to forecast the future, in areas such as music, measure of time, medicine, property and other dimensions of human activities.

In his book Millennium, published in 1990, Jacques Attali created the concept of "nomad society" to characterize the nature of future civilization. His theory was not only a spark for the creation of the Java programming language by Bill Joy and John Gage at Sun Microsystems, but also for the titanium-clad Guggenheim museum in Bilbao, Spain, designed by architect Frank Gehry. In 1984, Attali created Eureka, the main European program on new technologies. Jacques Attali is a brilliant and emotive speaker.

Just why do you think we should be aware of him?

I've been searching Glenn Beck's web site but can't find it. A few weeks ago he mentioned a man's name, he believes is the anti-christ...and I wanted to see if it was this man.

Don't knock yourself out. I think Glenn Beck calls a lot of people the anti-christ, even himself. Google and see what you come up with.
