Waukegan: Catholic chrch places ad agst 287g- really!!
I've been meaning to post this. On July 7th our local paper had a full page ad placed by the 'Catholic Campaign for Immigration Reform.' I don't have a link but I'm going to type the main text of it. Here is a link to the discussion about it.

Catholic Campaign for Immigration Reform
We, the Sisters and Brothers of Immigrants, a collaboration of 27 congregations of Catholic religious Sisters, Brothers and Associates in the Archdiocese of Chicago, urge the city of Waukegan to revoke their resolution to have the Waukegan Police Department participate in the 287(g) program of the Immigration Customs Enforcement Administration.
Immigration is a huge national problem. Over 12 million immigrant residents of the United States lack current documentation. Our country needs a comprehensive immigration system which serves our economic and security needs, preserves family unity and upholds the rights and dignity of the human person. As the federal government now struggles to resolve this massive problem, we ask the city of Waukegan to halt its attempt to increase its own law enforcement capabilities over its residents beyond that of an Illinois municipality to take on federal immigration jurisdiction. The proposed action is already causing serious damage to the resident immigrant community. Grave fear, distress and unrest abound.
As Sisters and Brothers of Immigrants, we reverence the dignity of each person. We call forth accountability from the Waukegan city government in its responsibility to promote human dignity, to protect human rights and to build the common good for all of its resaidents, whter documents or undocumented.
To assist the Mayor, City Council and all residents of Waukegan in this difficult time, we pledge that we will fast and pray on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. May these prayers and fastings comfort the resident immigrant community. May these prayers and fastings inspire their local government to welcome the strangers among them and to leave to the appropriate federal agencies the issue of immigration law enforcement.
[the agencies are then listed that support this]

Church donations
I hope Catholics are withholding their $'s from the church since this is the way they are spending it. I know I'm not giving anymore.

The catholic church is violating federal law AND the constitution by entering into political issues. Now the paedophiles are PURCHASING ad space in news papers to sway the public towards their POLITICAL views??????????????
Mr. Tancredo needs to start the ball rolling on this and revise their tax exempt status asap.
Also Note: Ever wonder why the ACLU isn't protecting OUR constitutional rights to separation of church and state?????? Do you think anyone other than us are wondering about this? Maybe someone needs to take a look see into THEIR agenda? Political or personal?"There's no such thing as ILLEGALalien-able rights!" REGRESO E MEXICO !

You can bet that those dollars aren't coming from those nearly empty buildings with a few white haired people in them, nor those with Spanish speakers. The church serves the "bodies without a soul" corporations.

Religion is one key issue where I stray from the conservative Republicans. Actually there are many issues but immigration keeps the true conservatives my buddies
Churches looking for amnesty just to fill collection plates and pews are no longer houses of god, they are businesses and should be taxed as such!

I thought I'd seen it all, but obviously I was wrong. This is definitely a new way to describe illegal aliens."The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" ** Edmund Burke**

When have they ever run an ad to save lost souls? To invite people to church? Isn't that the mission of the church? To lead people to Christ?
