    We want a low-paid underclass

    Down on the farm

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture data, without foreign-guest workers, many U.S. farmers would be extremely shorthanded in planting, growing and harvesting crops and raising livestock.
The discussion in Washington has been about keeping illegal aliens and terrorists out. But while talking about illegals and terrorists, members of Congress have ignored the legitimate need for foreign workers. These workers currently fill many jobs that Americans aren't interested in doing.
Even though farmers on average pay higher wages than many service industries, most American workers would prefer being in air-conditioned buildings than sun-scorched fields. Without those foreign agricultural workers, no one will be there to chip in with the manual labor to bring food to America's grocery stores.
Congress has to realize that a guest-worker program is necessary in any immigration-reform effort. It must pass legislation that allows legal foreign-guest workers.

"...many jobs that Americans aren't interested in doing."

Hey, pay professional athletes and movies stars and CEOs of corporations minimum wage and how many folks will be lining up trying to get those jobs!!!!!

One could call the pro-illegal crowd Communists!!!! Yes!!!! They want to subvert the supply/demand equation for labor. The elite class uses supply/demand when it favors them but..... let the working poor benefit from supply/demand??? NO!!!!! We will maximize our wealth by using the downtrodden from foreign countries, no matter the harm to our own working poor.

Worker shortage? Hmmm.... increase wages? What a strange capitalistic concept!!!!! I have read various studies that showed increasing wages for farm workers has only a small effect upon food prices the consumer pays. Makes sense..... 300 million folks eating food. Doesn't take much of an increase in the cost those millions pay for food to cover the increased cost a livable wage for those involved with getting that food to the consumer would receive.

Communists!!!!! Greedy power broker elites!!!!!! Spit in the face of millions of hard-working Americans!!!!!!

Here is an e-mail address for a chap within the New Jersey Farm Bureau. I'm going to write and ask why his organization wants a low-paid underclass. Why his organization advocates Commie tactics to subvert the supply/demand capitalism method of running things. Why he and those of his ilk are spitting in the faces of many of their fellow citizens.
