WelcomingAmerica: let's get those minds washed squeaky clean

Ellen Gallagher is a staff member of the MIRA Coalition which is an organization which operates off of foundation grants and which currently purports to represent the immigrant population of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Welcoming America is an attempt to replicate a system created in Massachusetts across the United States.I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. WelcomingAmerica: let's get those minds washed squeaky clean

STRATEGY from the Welcoming America Tool Kit
Using a set of consensus principles as an education platform, Welcoming Massachusetts will aim to gather organizational and individual signatures in support of a pledge to make Massachusetts awelcoming state. Organizations and leaders will spread Welcoming Massachusetts principles and messagethrough organizing, education and dialogue. Organizations and individuals joining this effort will beencouraged to have conversations regarding immigration and immigrant rights with their memberships, constituencies and/or communities in ways that are most appropriate for them.
Once our goal is reached, we will have a public action that will manifest the collective power and intention of Massachusetts residents in their desire to create a more human, welcoming, and respecting environment for immigrants in the state. We believe that this will create the conditions for humane and sensible public policies regarding immigrants.
If you have never sat through a radical left consensus meeting what the above statement means is basically this. There will be a large meeting of people nominally representatives of various organizations. This would be preceeded by a small meeting of people comprising in their own minds an "elite cadre" this smaller group would have chosen a platform and the larger group would be presented with it and told that since it is reasonable they are expected to endorse it. If by chance there are portions of the platform a member of the larger group does not get or will not endorse they are then told they are obstructionist and holding up the process for other attendees. By a process of browbeating they are expected to fold and join the desired consensus. This is called democratic centralism.I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. The MIRA Coalition was founded in 1986 and originally funded by the Boston Foundation for the purpose of organizing volunteers to help undocumented file for adjustment of status under IRCA 1986 and it assisted 85,000 people to adjust their status. Since then it has used foundation money to form a loose coalition to hold discussions on the immigration issue. There is tight central control and a wide and loose organizational membership so that there are statements coming out of their office which they then claim came from the 130 organizations. That there are so many organizations involved makes it easy to apply pressure to get others to join. The more loosely affiliated organizations also often have MIRA as their only immigrant outreach to Massachusetts roughly 1 million legal immigrants. This allows the MIRA central office to coopt legitimate immigrant outreach and redirect it towards open borders and amnesty. The original sponsoring organization has not forgotten why MIRA is actually there.

Today, MIRA is a statewide association made up of more than 130 community agencies, legal service providers, labor unions and immigrant rights organizations—all advocating on behalf of the state’s 85,000 undocumented immigrants. As legislation affecting immigrants continues to evolve, the need for MIRA's powerful and effective voice is more important than ever.I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Make Massachusetts "Welcoming" ...to ILLEGALS, Tha
We've seen this sort of nonsense at the local level already. What they want is a declaration of SANCTUARY for illegals. In Framingham a few years back, a bunch of the local do-gooders drafted a "proclamation" of this type. It was crammed full of "whereas's" and the usual pablum about "celebrating diversity" and demanded the town welcome "all immigrants(sic)." Concerned citizens met with the Board of Selectmen and asked for the addition of a single word: Legal! The Open Borders lunatics went ballistic! The mere suggestion that foreigners would have to respect our laws put their undies in a bunch.
The legal immigration system that "welcomes" over 1,000,000 foreigners annually isn't the issue with these people. Flooding the nation with millions of illegal aliens...utterly unvetted for criminal background, education, skills, or health...is!Viva La Migra! [Hooray for the Border Patrol!] Viva Ramos! Viva Campean!* Good Riddance to El Presidente Jorge Boosh!
