Thread: Is this a "cultural" thing?

I know this is a really weird post, but I had to ask anyways. I have stated before that all of my neighbors are "newcomers" (thats a nice way of saying I beleive they are illegals). We have a duplex and are wall to wall with one family/group. Our neighbors have this thing about leaving bags of garbage in their garage, and it smells. They are not the only ones. My kids had been in other units without garages, and they will have mounds of garbage bags in their hall closets for about a week or two, then they'll take it over in their cars to the dumpster. I literally have never encountered someone that does this. What is this about? We have only 35 units and the dumpster isn't that far, heck our unit is one of the farthest from the dumpster and we make daily trips. I have spoke with the owner and he said he'll "talk" with them (for what thats worth!!), but I just do not get it. I'm not trying to be totally off the actual serious subjects that we all are here to keep up on. Tell me folks what you think, is it "cultural" or just about that lowered standard of living we have discussed here?

It's TurdWorld!!

TurdWorld is ugly. We don't even really know what all it means because few of us have been in one or lived in one until it recently invaded our neighborhoods.

It's nothing we want any part of and the only way to stay away from it is to KEEP IT OUT OF OUR COUNTRY by enforcing our US Immigration Laws.

Is it culture? It's culture, it's low standards, it's ignorance, it's disrespect, it's just not USA and shouldn't be here.

Call your Congressman and talk to their office a loooooooong time about his issue of the trashbags in the hall. They need to hear about it seeeeeveral times a day until the trashbags and the people who put them there are GOOOOOOONE!

AmericanElizabeth--have you reported this to your local Health Department??? This should be a violation of city codes. I BELIEVE they would come and investigate. OR, they could direct you to the proper local agency to deal with this SICKENING problem. But, it's also a DANGER.

You know whats totally amazing here in Multnomah county, Oregon? Its no ones responsibility unless it involves the enviroment, in other words, you can be a sickening pig of a neighbor, noisy, and outright dangerous, but unless I was renting in "public housing" or any other HUD related place, its private property and they or our city will not touch it. My landlord is a foreigner and he has that "how can I squeeze more money out of my crappy rentals and put nothing into them" attitude, so as long as he's getting his rent, he shines us on when we complain. You'd think with as much as the alien advicate groups go on and on about "coming here to make a better life" that they really were. I don't think living with your garbage in garages or closets is improving your lives. In my town, I see this as well as the majority of the crimes are commited by those that came here to improve their lives. Then they ruin perfectly good neighborhoods (we moved out of one a while ago, it is hideous now) and then want people to recognize their "cultural" accompishments. I suppose rubish, graffiti and decay has its points, but its lost on me, I'd rather have too many strip malls.

Well, that's a TERRIBLE situation where you have NO RECOURSE except through a SORRY landlord. Write a letter to the Editor of your paper and expose them!
