'Hispanic' is an ethnicity, not to be confused with a 'race.' On their birth certificates in the U.S., all Hispanics race are listed as 'White.'

One of the things which makes illegals' advocate charges of racisim so absurd is that there are at least three racial categories in Mexico: white, mixed, and indian. Whites are often referred to as Blanco, mixed race are often referred to as Mestizo, and I've forgotten the name for indigenous people.
