Illegal criminals become citizens?
We had a satelight installer here over the weekend. We were discussing illegals. He said he had a Salvadorian and a illegal mexican for brother-inlaws. He said his Illegal mexican wanted to become a citizen. He hired a lawyer and was told he would have to pay 5,000 for boarder jumping and 5,000 for citizenship. He couldn't afford it. He was charged with raping the installers 12 year old niece. He was arrested. While in jail he became a citizen so the U.S. could prosecute him. Eventually his sister posted bond for him and he is out and a legal citizen. Does this sound right? Has anyone else heard of this? or is it just Virgina that does this He apparently lived in Virginia. First I heard of this happening curious if anyone else knows anything?

What is more likely is that a hold was placed on this criminal's deportation so he could be prosecuted. I can not explain why he would be eligible for bail though. However, with this country in a state of anarchy, who knows?

The satelight man said he had citizenship documents and was laughing about it. How it was cheaper than hiring a lawyer.

I dont know how he could have made the jump
from illegal to citizen.
The law requires a period of 5 years as a legal resident
in order to become eligible to apply for citizenship.
I dont think one has be a citizen to be prosecuted for a crime.

HE could not have become a US citizen while in jail. this is a long process starting with a green card, then 5 years later he can apply for citizenship, then become a citizen which has to happen in a swearing ceremony in front of a federal judge.I dought any of that could have happen, I think the Satelite installer was confused somehow.

The latest is that those women who get married here to citizens to get the visa, a while after they get married leave the husband and go to immigracion and say that they were mentally abused, and they get the visa. Recently in Florida an older couple went for the interview for the wife's visa, he knew it was a fake marriage, he got very nervous because they ask a lot of questions, and he got a heart attack right there in the immigration office, the woman was granted the permanent visa. If they get their visas in this country they entered the country illegally. So this is to prove you that all these people are entering the country because the government permits it.
We are here debating that those illegals should not be granted amnesty, but in the other hand, immigration gives hundreds of visas everyday to people who broke the law, to illegals. And they say that there are 12 million illegals, but never mention how many million of visas they issue to illegals here, plus the ones they issue abroad. An believe me, some people believe that in ten years the Spanish population in this country would be the majority. Ten years? too bad no one can come up with the right number, or they don't want to let anyone know, but my personal guess is that it is very close to be majority already.
excuse my English please

I am aware that the Bush administration has performance bonuses for employees to issue papers to as many aliens as possible. However, I still think it unlikely a criminal received "citizenship."
