After widespread curiosity and speculation that WikiLeaks would disclose a massive trove of emails that could potentially damage Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee for president of the United States, the leak have arrived.

WikiLeaks has so far dumped several batches of emails in recent days, prompting journalists and the campaigns to pour over the information to try and figure out what these emails say and what, if anything, is truly scandalous and potentially damaging for the campaign. Here's a look at some of the notable discoveries.

Clinton Has Expressed Support For Fracking. During the primary, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders tried to make Clinton’s paid speeches to Wall Street banks a major issues but she refused to release the transcripts. Within the emails are some of those alleged transcripts and it doesn't look good so far. Although Clinton cast herself as a fracking skeptic during the primaries, Clinton told paid audiences that she has promoted fracking around the world.

“Fracking was developed at the Department of Energy,” she told Deutsche Bank executives in a speech attached to an email from earlier this year. “I mean, the whole idea of how fracking came to be available in the marketplace is because of research done by our government. And I've promoted fracking in other places around the world.”

She also implied that fracking is an important part of the country’s future to become energy independent.
"Now the technology gives us the chance to go in and recover oil and gas” Clinton said in the document. “Or with the new technology known as fracking, we are truly on a path -- and it's not just United States; it's all of North America -- that will be net energy exporters assuming we do it right.”

Clinton Said She’s ‘Removed’ From Ordinary Americans And That You Need Two Faces In Politics.
The transcripts, if accurate, also show that Clinton has slightly different things to say behind closed doors to bank executives when it comes to her relationship with ordinary Americans. In one of the transcripts she is quoted as saying that she’s “removed” from the struggles of ordinary Americans as a result of her family's financial fortunes but that she hasn’t forgotten her upbringing. The transcripts also contained a line — brought up during Sunday’s second presidential debate — where Clinton said “you need both a public and private position” in politics.

"I mean, politics is like sausage being made," she said during the 2013 speech to the National Multi-Housing Council. "It is unsavory, and it always has been that way, but we usually end up where we need to be. But if everybody's watching, you know, all of the back room discussions and the deals, you know, then people get a little nervous, to say the least. So, you need both a public and a private position."

The Clinton Campaign Was In Touch With The Justice Department Over An Open Records Case.
Clinton spokesman Brian Fallon, who used to work for the DOJ, sent an email to staff that he had been in touch with DOJ personnel just a month after the Clinton campaign became official.

“DOJ folks inform me there is a status hearing in this case this morning so we could have a window into the judge's thinking about this proposed production schedule,” Fallon wrote on May 19, 2015, referencing a lawsuit looking to get access to Clinton’s email correspondence while she served as secretary of state. It was not a lawsuit related to criminal investigation of the emails.
