    Where are the homeless

Millions of homes have been foreclosed in the last couple of years so where are the homeless? I did a search for apartments in Phoenix, one of the places hardest hit by foreclosures and there are a thousand apartments for rent there. http://www.apartments.com/Results.aspx? ... e=AZ&rad=5

So while some people may have gone back to apartment living most did not. Most have not ended up in homeless shelters either because the news would certainly tell us about that during an election year.

I suspect a huge portion of these people are living at home, back in Mexico.

So this entire bailout is a project to buy the second homes of illegal immigrants.

SOME ARE LIVING IN TENT CITIES POPPING UP ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. SOME OF THE TENT CITIES HAVE AS MANY AS TWO HUNDRED INHABITANTS. SOME DID GO HOME TO MEXICO, BUT SOME OF THE AFFECTED HOMEOWNERS ARE NOT MEXICAN. SOME WERE EVEN LONG TIME HOMEOWNERS WHO COULD NOT SELL THEIR HOME DURING A JOB LOSS. THEY WERE FORECLOSED ON....THEY ARE HOMELESS NOW. THIS MESS IS MOVING FAR BEYOND SUBPRIME LOANS. IT IS AFFECTING SOME HOMEOWNERS WHO HAVE REGULAR LOANS TOO. ANYONE WHO LOSES THEIR JOB RIGHT NOW WILL LOSE THEIR HOME BECAUSE THEY CANT SELL IT. THEY END UP WITH NOTHING.

Sometimes homelessness is a choice, not a necessity.

I'm thinking there are people who were responsible and still are getting hurt by this.

The majority, I do believe, though are the ones who bought homes 'because I can make the payments' or refinanced when they shouldn't have.

But I, too, have wondered where the people are.

I know of people who have not made any payments for 10-14 months
they are still in the homes,if the bank forces them out the market suffers and values drop even more. People strip the empty homes, squaters move in and the neighborhood values decline again.

The Banks don't have the money to rehab and resell.

ITS TRUE. THIS ALL STARTED WITH BANKS LENDING MONEY TO PEOPLE WHO COULD NOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR A HOUSE IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM. THAT IS HOW IT STARTED. BUT NOW IT IS HITTING THOSE WHO ARE LOSING JOBS AND NEED TO SELL BECAUSE OF JOB LOSS. THEY CANT SELL. OR IF THEY CAN SELL, THEY HAVE TO DO IT AT A LOSS AND THEY LOSE WHATEVER EQUITY THEY HAD. THEY END UP WITH NOTHING.

PEOPLE WHO DONT LOSE THEIR JOB WILL PROBABLY JUST KEEP MAKING THEIR PAYMENTS AND WAIT FOR THE VALUE OF THEIR HOUSE TO GO UP AGAIN. BUT SOME ARE BEING HIT WITH CHANGING CIRCUMSTANCES THAT MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP THEIR HOME.

BUT YOU ARE RIGHT....IT ALL BEGAN WITH IRRESPONSIBLE LENDING. AND A VERY LARGE PORTION OF THOSE PEOPLE THAT BORROWED FOR A HOME THAT THEY COULD NOT AFFORD, WERE HERE ILLEGALLY. LENDERS WERE NOT EVEN SURE WHO THOSE PEOPLE ARE. THEY JUST WALKED AWAY. AMERICAN HOMEOWNERS ARE LEFT HOLDING THE BAG.

Last Friday my MOLD-infested apartment complex in Dallas, TX, was scheduled for CONDEMNATION, but it PASSED! However, I DON'T want to live in that slimy musty cesspool ANYMORE and am looking for another place to live in Phoenix, AZ, or Reno, NV. Perhaps the MAIN reason why there may still be over 1000 apartments available for rent in Phoenix (and lots MORE elsewhere to be sure!) is that the rent is simply UNAFFORDABLE!
