    America's Police Chief Garrett Chamberlain

    www.forthecause.us

    Dear Patriots,

The following is our exclusive interview with New
    Ipswich, NH Police Chief
Garrett Chamberlain. It is the first in our series on
    outstanding American
Patriots who are fighting for the Cause in their own
    neighborhoods.

Many have heard that his Criminal Trespass case
    against an illegal alien
was lost in court. There's much more to the story --
    and it's great news
    for all Americans.

Please forward this on to all across the USA -
    especially law enforcement,
elected officials, and your neighbors. All of us can
    encourage our local
police to enforce the law. Learning about Garrett
    might just give them the
    inspiration they need!

    For the Cause, Linda

    W. Garrett Chamberlain - America's Police Chief
    by Linda Muller
    For the Cause - forthecause.us

Police Chief Garrett Chamberlain made national
    headlines earlier this year
when he arrested an illegal alien with fake
    identification in his town of
New Ipswich, New Hampshire. Chamberlain charged him
    with criminal
trespass. The Chief saw the issue as a matter of
    national security and
believed he was acting in the best interests of the
    citizens he was sworn
to protect and serve. Sensing a threat that could
    spread nationwide, the
case drew the attention of the Mexican government,
    which paid for the
    defendant's legal representation.

Eventually, the case against the illegal alien was
    dismissed by the New
Hampshire district court, but the arrest helped bring
    into focus lax
border enforcement by federal officials, much like the
    volunteer efforts
of the Minuteman organization. Rep. Tom Tancredo
    (R-CO) recognized the
Chief's efforts by presenting him with an award and
    calling him a hero for
    his actions.

In this exclusive interview, Chief Chamberlain
    provides an update on his
efforts to fight illegal immigration and shares his
    opinions on related
matters, including the Minutemen. He also reveals his
    thoughts about
running for a seat in Congress after he retires.

    1. Has the decision by the New Hampshire district
    court to leave
    immigration enforcement to federal authorities
    discouraged your efforts to
act against illegal immigration in New Ipswich?

The decision by the New Hampshire Court has only
    restricted one avenue of
enforcement for our agency. I believe that by bringing
    the criminal
trespass charge many positives have come from it. It
    has started the
wheels in motion for many States to look at their own
    criminal laws and to
find applicable laws to enforce against illegal
    immigration.

    2. Has all the publicity about your efforts to deal
    with illegal
immigration in New Ipswich discouraged more of this
    activity, or has it
inadvertently made your town a safe haven for illegal
    aliens?

The publicity has helped to discourage illegal
    immigrants from entering or
traveling through New Ipswich. The immigrant community
    in one of the
biggest cities in the State told their residents to
    avoid New Ipswich and
Hudson at all costs. A year ago, there were four
    houses in New Ipswich
that were used specifically for housing illegal
    immigrants that were
employed here. Since I have begun pursuing illegal
    immigrants, those
houses now are empty and on the market, or have
    already been sold.

    3. Since the court's decision, have any of your
    department's officers
undergone training to become federal immigration
    enforcement agents (ICE
    deputies)?

No, the judge who ruled against us indicated in his
    ruling that there was
the option for us to participate in the ICE training
    program to give us
the authority to enforce immigration laws. My
    understanding of the law and
many other Court decisions is that we already have
    inherent authority to
enforce immigration laws. The ninth and tenth circuit
    Courts have ruled
that way again and again. If the officers were to
    participate in the
training, it does not solve the problem that local and
    State police face,
which is the Federal government's denial to respond to
    take custody of
    arrested or detained illegal aliens.

    4. What about going after employers who hire illegal
    aliens - given the
court's decision, is this still an approach you can
    use to discourage
    illegal immigration to New Ipswich?

I have been in contact with the New Hampshire
    legislature and have
proposed the establishment of a task force in New
    Hampshire to target
employers who hire illegal immigrants. New Hampshire
    has a law in place,
RSA 275-A, which is called, "Citizens Employment
    Protection."

[LINK] Section 275-A:4-a is entitled "Employment of
    Illegal Aliens
Prohibited" and that law states that " No employer may
    employ an alien
whom the employer knows is not a citizen of the United
    States and not in
possession of Form I-151, Alien Registration Receipt
    Card or any other
document issued by the United States Immigration and
    Naturalization
Service or the Attorney General of the United States
    which authorizes him
    to work."

The penalty section of the law indicates that "Any
    person, partnership,
agency, firm, or corporation violating any provision
    of RSA 275-A shall be
subject to a civil penalty of up to $1,000 for each
    day of noncompliance,
to be imposed by the labor commissioner in accordance
    with the procedures
    established in RSA 273:11-a."

The legislature has indicated recently in a press
    release that their
priorities for the January session would be the
    Criminal Trespass law,
amending it to apply to illegal immigrants and the
    enforcement of the law
    against employers.

    5. In Canyon County, Idaho, a federal racketeering
    (RICO) suit has been
filed against four companies accused of employing
    illegal immigrants. Have
you ever considered doing this in New Ipswich?

I cannot bring Federal charges. This would have to be
    done by the
government, as it was in Idaho.

    6. Ohio's Butler County seems to be pretty aggressive
    in fighting illegal
immigration. What significance do developments there
    have on your efforts
    in New Ipswich?

It is encouraging to see other communities stand up
    for what is right, and
not collapsing under the pressure of political
    correctness. This is the
position that every law enforcement agency should
    have. Unfortunately,
many in positions such as mine are pressured
    politically from taking a
hard stand on any controversial issue. I will not
    succumb to that
    pressure.

    7. If elected officials in New Ipswich were to declare
    the town a
"sanctuary" for illegal aliens, how would you deal
    with the situation?

I would inform them that they were in violation of
    Federal law by aiding
or assisting persons in the United States illegally. I
    would also inform
them that if they did not repeal the sanctuary policy,
    that I would pursue
criminal charges at the State level for Obstructing
    Governmental
Administration, and request prosecution at the Federal
    level. This is what
should be taking place in cities like Denver and New
    York.

I'm very fortunate that I have a great board of
    selectmen who believe in
the law of the land, and they have given me full
    authority to enforce all
laws. I don't have to worry about the New Ipswich
    selectmen considering
any sanctuary policy because they still believe in
    America.

    8. The Minuteman organization has been operating on
    the border and in many
states for 18 months now. Have you formed an opinion
    of the Minutemen...
and what would be your reaction if a Minuteman unit
    formed in New Ipswich?

I think the Minutemen are an outstanding group of
    dedicated individuals
who donate their time to assist in protecting the
    citizens of this great
Nation, providing security to the borders where the
    government has
intentionally neglected to do its job. Chris Simcox
    and Jim Gilchrist are
heroes in my book. I would welcome a Minuteman unit in
    New Ipswich, or
    even New Hampshire.

    9. What do you believe is the reason why so many of
    our public officials
at every level of government are shirking their duty
    to enforce our
    immigration laws?

The issue is complex, but I believe that you have the
    Democratic Party
whose majority is in favor of open borders because of
    liberal social
positions, and you have a significant portion of the
    Republican Party that
is manipulated by big business. Many politicians are
    afraid of the labels
that are applied when you take a stand like I have,
    such as racist, bigot,
    etc.

    10. You're eligible for retirement in 7 years… Have
    you given any thought
    to running for Congress?

I have given political office some thought, and I will
    make a
determination in the future. I don't believe that I
    have much chance of
winning an election because I come from a middle class
    family and I will
always do what is right, not what is popular.
