Patriot2, I don't know, you tell me if you think they are better off. did you happen to see the riots in france? Yea they get jobs for life, trouble is it is getting hard to get a job no one wants to hire a bum for life 40 % unemployement esp with the entry level jobs with the young people! After having had what we have here can you really ask the question would we be better off being a socialized government? As for me, NO!

We are Socialist and have been for some time. I think it started with government implemented welfare and social security. The IRS is another example. We are now taxed without representation. Sure we have a "vote", but what does that mean anymore. If people who don't contribute to the system get the most votes, how valuable is it. If there is corrupt voter registration (and there is) what good is it?

Look at these "Representatives" in Congress. They don't represent the average person. They are self-serving and slaves to the Corporations that help get them in office.

We are really in deep trouble, when we stop enforcing laws and start interpreting the Constitution in ways that give others more rights than lawful citizens of the US. That is what Congress is doing right now. They are playing God.

The programs meant for Public Welfare are run by crooked and lazy Government Employees and laden with incompetence and corruption. If someone attempts to do an honest job he is ousted.

Pander to a special interest group. Idiots. The Republicans better stand their ground because the Socialist are already in the middle of the Democrats. The Dems want them voteing for them in the future.

Socialism is the stepping stone to Communism. Once government corruption takes over, then you become a commie.

    BOOTS,
you're astute, girl. Right you are........it was called "the NEW DEAL."

Some knew that it would begin to chip away at the Constitution, but not enough to understand. The country was exausted and people were starving. It was the perfect time to implement such a sweeping idea....when American's were at their weakest. A so-called temporary bandaid that we've suffered from ever since. The libs/socialists have continued to stretch it until we now have ONE party {imho} all looking for & fighting for the POWER.

NOTE: Kick corrected me on my erro re:NEW DEAL

Socialism in theory should NOT be a bad thing. It just really depends on how the government chooses to enact the programs. It’s only an economic model not a governmental one! An economic system in theory should have nothing to do on how a country is governed. Its all about who controls the means of production. No country in the world is a pure capitalistic or pure communistic. Instead, all are somewhere in between hence socialist.

The US does not practice lassie fair capitalism. The government in theory is to regulate business to prevent monopolies, make sure they are playing fair, and in some cases redistribute wealth. Without this system would truly make ruling class of the rich and everyone else the poor. The system breaks down when the government is controlled by those to be regulated. I think this type of socialism, corporate welfare, is what people really fear. This is what happening now when the government redistributes the wealth to the rich instead of the lower classes.

Here goes the Socialism in Theory is a Good Thing ---People are inherently greedy

What the HECK do you think Haliburton is?

And that is connected to CHENEY???? HOW$$$$

The Bushes and the Oil Industry??? George W was a failure at everything he did. Poor Jeb was the bright star. And that idiot is President and we think he will be able to think his way out of this one??? He is doing exactly what he was put in to place for.

I worked in that industry. My Dad worked for Halliburton in the early days.

THE WAR is being fought for what reason???

Lets go back to Reagan - What were his qualifications?? His 1986 Reform was a joke, and they want to do it again.

    WELCOME ADMNEAL!

    Good to have you here

FYI: there has never been a socialist/marxist/communist government that has flourished. They decay in an odd way.

Actually, the government is NOT to "redistibute wealth"........however, it has been manipulated to do so. That was not the intention of the Founding Fathers who believed in philanthropy.

Throughout history, when a government grows and incorporates a cradle to grave {great theory eh} society, the society begins to shrivel in thought and creation.

By eliminating incentives and competition, people lose their desire to invent, create and grow.

If one looks back through history, most of the great inventions music & art came from societies that were the most free and unencumbered.

France is an excellent example......they've not produced much of consequence for generations. We will be following in their footsteps as our inventions {the most any country has ever produced} have fallen off in an alarming percentage. Ever since our "welfare" programs have taken root.

    my 2 cents

2ndamend... ditto to your last post here. The 'welfare" state is actually the "indentured slave" state. Those who pay the taxes, to support those who don't, are indentured slaves. The average American worker pays so much in various taxes that s/he must work from January 1 to May 15 just to earn enough to pay them. That's nearly half the year's salary or wages is paid in taxes of some type. Now if that doesn't smack of slavery (or socialism) I don't know what does.
