Wikileaks: Clinton Foundation Chatter with State Dept on Uranium Deal with Russia

Wikileaks: Clinton Foundation Chatter with State Dept on Uranium Deal with RussiaThe Associated Press

    by NEIL W. MCCABE
    8 Oct 2016Washington

Top staffers for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign got heads-up from a Clinton Foundation senior vice-president that the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee was asking the Department of Justice to investigate the State Department approval of the sale of American uranium assets to a Russian company.

The email traffic is part of some hacked emails belonging to John Podesta, the chairman of Clinton’s presidential campaign. It was posted on the WikiLeaks website.

This thread of emails demonstrates the routine and intimate interaction between members of the campaign staff and the Clinton Foundation.

Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA), in a June 30, 2015 letter pointed out the for a matter of such importance, nearly 25 percent of the country’s uranium deposits, the transaction was approved very quickly.

Maura Pally, who handles communications at the foundation sent Podesta the email at 12:18 p.m.

    From: *Maura Pally* <maura.pally@gmail.com>
Date: Friday, July 3, 2015 Subject: Grassley letter
To: Cheryl Mills <cheryl.mills@gmail.com>, John Podesta < john.podesta@gmail.com>, Heather Samuelson <heather.samuelson@gmail.com>, Huma Abedin <ha16@hillaryclinton.com>
Putting on all of your radars that Grassley sent a letter to AG Lynch (dated June 30th though we just saw it) asking questions about contributions to the Clinton Foundation and the Uranium One deal. Letter is attached. Craig is connecting with comms team to be sure they are aware as well.

Podesta then forwarded the email to the next tier down: jpalmieri@hillaryclinton.com, kschake@hillaryclinton.com, tcarrk@hillaryclinton.com, creynolds@hillaryclinton.com roughly 90 minutes later at 1:49 p.m.

That is Jennifer Palmeiri, who was President Barack Obama’s director of communications before joining the Clinton campaign; Kristina Schake, one of the campaign’s deputy communications directors; Tony Carrk, the campaign’s research director and Christina Reynolds, another deputy campaign director.

Remember, Podesta is the campaign chairman.

Remember, too, that Podesta’s company received a $35 million investment from a Russian company that the FBI warned was seeking to steal America technology and intellectual property in 2014..

In the letter, Grassley spelled out his concerns:

On April 23, The New York Times reported on details regarding the Clinton Foundation’s ties to a number of investors involved in a business transaction that resulted in the acquisition of Uranium One, owner of U.S. based uranium assets, by Atomredmetzoloto (ARMZ), a subsidiary of Rosatom, a Russian government owned company. The transaction raised a number of national security concerns because it effectively ceded 20% of U.S. uranium production capacity to the Russian government.
Due to that foreign involvement, a review of the transaction was conducted by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), whose membership includes the Secretary of State and of which Treasury is the chair. In addition, during critical stages of the acquisition approval, interested parties made large donations – some in the millions of dollars – to the Clinton Foundation while Ms. Hillary Clinton held the position of Secretary of State. When millions of dollars flow to decision makers who have substantial discretion to provide support for or against approval of controversial transactions, public confidence in the integrity of the process requires a commitment to transparency and responsiveness to oversight inquiries.

After listing his concerns, Grassley requested the attorney general provide him with answers by July 16, 2016:

The risk of conflicts with Secretary Clinton at State was so great that the Clinton Foundation and the Obama Administration entered into a memorandum of understanding which, in part, required donations to be disclosed. However, millions of dollars in donations to the Clinton Foundation from executives with an interest in the Uranium One/ARMZ transaction were not disclosed, breaching the agreement.
    Accordingly, please answer the following:
    1. What role did the Department of Justice play in the Uranium One/ARMZ transaction? Please explain in detail.
    2. Please list the Department of Justice personnel that were involved in the Uranium One/ARMZ transaction.
    3. Did Secretary Clinton’s relationship with the Clinton Foundation require her to recuse herself from the CFIUS’s review of the Uranium One/ARMZ transaction? If so, did she
recuse herself? If the relationship did not require recusal, please explain why not.
    4. Was Attorney General Holder briefed by Department of Justice personnel regarding the Uranium

At least, Podesta has a sense of humor.

One minute before he told the top communications officials at the Clinton campaign that the House Judiciary Committee was demanding a ?DOJ investigation into the uranium transaction and its approval by the State Department, he shot a quick replay to Maura Pally, the woman, who gave him the heads-up: “Thanks, I think.”

Report: Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Mgr John Podesta Sat on Board of Company that Bagged $35 Million from Putin-Connected Russian Govt Fund

Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta sat on the board of a small energy company alongside Russian officials that received $35 million from a Putin-connected Russian government fund, a relationship Podesta failed to fully disclose on his federal financial disclosures as required by law.

That’s one of the many revelations from a 56-page report released late Sunday titled “From Russia with Money: Hillary Clinton, the Russian Reset, and Cronyism” by the non-partisan government watchdog group, the Government Accountability Institute (GAI). Breitbart Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon holds the same title in GAI and Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Peter Schweizer serves as GAI’s president.

Both the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal ran stories on the newly released report late Sunday evening.

As part of her duties during the so-called Russian reset, then-Sec. of State Hillary Clinton led the way on U.S. involvement in a Russian government technology initiative that was intended to be the Russian equivalent of America’s Silicon Valley known as Skolkovo. The “innovation city,” located outside Moscow, has some 30,000 workers in state-of-the-art facilities under strict government control. As Slate described it in 2013, “In some ways, Skolkovo is eerily reminiscent of Soviet utopian city-building projects.”

According to the GAI report, Clinton’s State Dept. recruited U.S. tech giants like Google, Cisco, Intel. Indeed, out of 28 U.S., European, and Russian companies that participated in Skolkovo, 17 of them were Clinton Foundation donors or paid for speeches by Bill Clinton.

However, as involvement in Skolkovo by Clinton cronies increased, so, too, did the danger for the technology coming out of the Russian tech mecca to be used for Russian military purposes.

In 2014, the FBI issued what it called “an extraordinary warning” to several technology companies involved with Skolkovo. “The [Skolkovo] foundation may be a means for the Russian government to access our nation’s sensitive or classified research development facilities and dual-use technologies with military and commercial application,” warned Lucia Ziobro, the assistant special agent at the FBI’s Boston office. She added: “The FBI believes the true motives of the Russian partners, who are often funded by the government, is to gain access to classified, sensitive, and emerging technology from the companies.”
Still, Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta sat on the executive board of a small energy company called Joule Unlimited. Joule, too, received the FBI letter warning about Skolkovo. Other Joule board members included senior Russian officials. According to the GAI report: “Two months after Podesta joined the board, Vladimir Putin’s Rusnano announced that it would invest up to one billion rubles into Joule Unlimited, which amounts to $35 million. That represents one-fifth of the entire amount of investment dollars Joule collected from 2007 to 2013.”

Rusnano, which former Russian education and science minister and current science advisor to Vladmir Putin Andrei Fursenko describes as “Putin’s child,” was founded by Putin in 2007.

The GAI investigative report says it’s unclear how much, if any, money Podesta made. The reason: Podesta was on the board of three Joule entities, but only listed two on his disclosure; the most important entity, Joule Stichting, he did not list. “Podesta’s compensation by Joule cannot be fully determined,” reads the report. “In his 2014 federal government disclosure filing, Podesta lists that he divested stock options from Joule. However, the disclosure does not cover the years 2011-2012.”
Why Podesta failed to reveal, as required by law on his federal financial disclosures, his membership on the board of this offshore company is presently unknown.

“But the flows of funds from Russia during the ‘reset’ to Podesta-connected entities apparently didn’t end with Joule Energy,” the report states. According to the GAI report, Podesta’s far-left think tank, Center for American Progress (CAP), took in $5.25 million from the Sea Change Foundation between 2010-2013.

Who was funding Sea Change Foundation? According to tax records, Sea Change Foundation at the time was receiving a large infusion of funds from a mysterious Bermuda-based entity called ‘Klein, Ltd.’…Who owns Klein? It is impossible to say exactly, given corporate secrecy laws in Bermuda. But the registered agent and lawyers who set up the offshore entity are tied to a handful of Russian business entities including Troika Dialog, Ltd. Leadership includes Ruben Vardanyan, an ethnic Armenian who is a mega oligarch in Putin’s Russia. Vardanyan also served on the board of Joule Energy with John Podesta.

The FBI and U.S. Army sounded the alarm bells about Skolkovo being a threatening pathway for Russia to accelerate its military technological capabilities. Why Hillary Clinton’s State Dept and her campaign manager were tied up in this raises serious questions that demand answers and transparency.

Was the Russian Reset really just the initial talks for a private uranium deal?

Oh my God, it was out there all along, but no media coverage. Trump talked about the stupid uranium deal for a year and a half and we all knew it was stupid, unexplained, and just plain wrong on all levels, but actual corruption was involved. See, it's like I say about those who support illegal immigration being on the take with the cartels, same thing, no one is this stupid, they're all on the take and crooks when they do things like this. So when we eternally say they're dumb or stupid and I'm one who regularly uses those terms as well, they are all really crooks.

That's why Trump called Hillary, "Crooked Hillary". He was absolutely 100% right.

Republicans in Congress need to remember why they were sent to DC and that is to clean up this mess, drain this filthy swamp and reverse these policies that have not only bankrupted our nation but probably delivered the uranium materials to North Korea and Iran to bomb our asses with nuclear armed long range missiles.
