Write In Lou Dobbs for President
California requires 55 people to swear to vote for Lou Dobbs by October 21, 2008:
(See Section 4)
http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/electio ... ar2008.htm

to the number of presidential electors to which this state is entitled (55), who desire to be writein
candidates for presidential electors pledged to a particular candidate for President and Vice-
President of the United States shall file a declaration of write-in candidacy with the Secretary
of State. The Declaration of Write-In Candidacy – Presidential Elector shall contain the
following information:
• candidate’s name;
• candidate’s complete residence address;
• a declaration stating that the candidate is a write-in candidate for the office of
presidential elector;
• the date of the general election;

Constitution; and

I'm sorry, but if Lou Dobbs is not willing to commit to a presidential run himself, I can't see dragging him in unwillingly.

won't work
I don't think it will work because the candidate has to go through a process...they have to request write ins and I think pay money. We were going to do it for Ron Paul..but if he doesn't request it...we can't even do it.

I'm thinking that whoever the Democratic nominee is, will win by several million votes in California in November. What would the media say if Lou Dobbs got a million write-in votes for President? It doesn't appear to be expensive, I'm sure there's filing fees.

Lou Dobbs
I am sure you could write Lou Dobbs on the bottom of your ballot..but it won't be counted. Lou Dobbs has to throw his hat in..and he has to go through the process to get write in's approved. 5 million could write it and 5 million won't count. We have discussed this about Ron Paul and that is the answer.

I would appreciate a link to somewhere that can show me that this is undoable. From what I've seen at California's website, it looks fairly simple:

I understand that Lou Dobbs is not going to win the election. I understand that there are procedures needed to get votes for write-ins counted. I'm also going to vote next November and I'm looking for a way to express my feelings. I think this could be a powerful way.
