Feb. 11, 2015 – ICE, Caribbean Corridor Strike Force seize $29 million worth of cocaine, arrest 13
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), working jointly with the Caribbean Corridor Strike Force (CCSF), seized 989 kilograms of cocaine and arrested 13 individuals for drug trafficking following an at-sea interdiction Feb. 3 approximately eight nautical miles off the coast of Manati. The cocaine has an estimated street value of $29 million. Full Story

Preet Bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced today that Ross William Ulbricht, a/k/a "Dread Pirate Roberts," a/k/a "DPR," a/k/a "Silk Road," was found guilty yesterday on all seven counts in connection with his operation and ownership of Silk Road, a hidden website designed to enable its users to buy and sell illegal drugs and other unlawful goods and services anonymously and beyond the reach of law enforcement, following a four-week trial before U.S. District Judge Katherine B. Forrest.

Suspected Southern California ‘sex traveler’ arrested boarding flight at LAX
Ronald Carey Shirley, 64, was taken into custody at Los Angeles International Airport as he boarded a Philippines Air flight. The former accountant is charged in a criminal complaint with attempting to produce and attempting to receive child pornography. The charges stem from online communications of a sexual nature the defendant had with underage females in the Philippines and Vietnam, including some messages in which he allegedly solicited sexually explicit images of the victims.

Jamaican man first to be extradited to face fraud charges in lottery scam
Damion Bryan Barrett, 28, was charged in a 38-count indictment with conspiracy and 37 counts of wire fraud and committing these offenses via telemarketing. Barrett is the first Jamaican citizen to be extradited from that country to the United States based on charges of defrauding Americans in connection with a lottery scheme.
