Senator Charles Schumer lays out immigration strategy

New York Senator Charles Schumer has indicated that significant progress has been made in seeking to achieve comprehensive immigration reform early next year.

Schumer gave a lengthy interview to El Diario this week in which he made some very telling points about his strategy, as immigration reform becomes an issue on the agenda for the early months of 2010.

Clearly he is trying to achieve a fait accompli before the bill ever gets to the House or Senate floor. He is working closely with Senator Lindsey Graham to try and achieve that. (The following quotes are a Google translation form the original Spanish version that appeared in El Diario).

"The only way I can make this happen, is that when we announce the law, we are all together, immigrants, employers, trade unions, religious groups, evangelical, Democrats and Republicans, “Schumer said stating that negotiations between these groups have made considerable progress.
Schumer said that we must find a way to stop illegal immigration with an emphasis on the employer. Clearly this is his olive branch to the Republicans.

"The only way to stop illegal immigration is that employers do not hire them. We do not know the exact form this will take, but all citizens and non-citizens … should use a Social Security card with photo and biometric (fingerprint). Everyone will have to use the card when applying for a job and that will pass through a machine,â€

The only way to stop illegal immigration is to never give an AMNESTY!
If Palestine puts down their guns, there will be peace.
If Israel puts down their guns there will be no more Israel.

Schumer is talking sense? So selling out the Americans that pay his salary makes sense? Sounds close to verging on obvious and blatant treason to me.

we will maintain the quota of 65,000 H1-B visas, but that'll change
This implys an effort to obtain an increase in H1-B which would be a disadvantage to any American who might consider obtaining or maintaining skills in the same field.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

The people are not going to accept amnesty regardless of what form it takes. You don't gut the enforcement and stop deportation as the Obama administration has done, then think the American people are going to fall in line behind any immigration reform bill.

We say NO! Can you hear us now?

Amnesty....been there done that and all it gets us is another amnesty 15-20 years down the road. If we do it again and again it shows our government is not serious about enforcing their own immigration laws. Enough!

I think we all see the ploy here. Gutierrez's amnesty bill is so extreme, even by OBL standards, that Schumer's and Graham's amnesty bill will seem "moderate" in comparison -- but of course will still be terrible with the same old talk of "amnesty now" with hollow promises of future enforcement (see 1986 IRCA).

So while we should protest and lobby against the House amnesty bill, we have to let Senators know now that any Senate amnesty bill is also entirely unacceptable!

We demand that our existing immigration are enforced now, with NO conditions.
