Getting back to the subject of the thread, Cruz's tax plan circumvents the rule of apportionment! The very purpose of the rule of apportionment was to guarantee equal taxation whenever Congress taxed the people or their property directly!

Socialists and the friends of big government hate the rule of apportionment when it comes to taxation but love the rule [one man one vote] part of our Constitution when getting their representation in Congress.

Cruz promotes a socialist system of taxation where the most productive are taxed more, but are not afforded the rule of apportionment [one dollar one vote] in Congress relative to their financial contribution. And this is also true of Donald Trump, Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, and John Kasich ___ they all want to circumvent the rule of apportionment as applied to taxation which is a rule intended to control and regulate Congress' actions and insure each State's financial contribution is proportionately equal to its representation in Congress.

Let us not forget this coming election the betrayal by House Republicans and Senate Republicans who voted in favor of Paul Ryan’s Bill to finance Obama’s invasion of our borders!

Each leading candidate supports dishonest taxation and dishonest money

Seems to me each of our leading candidates [Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, and John Kasich] correctly tell us how awful our current system of taxation is, and then try to con us into "tax reform" which keeps alive the worm at the root of the tree which is the socialist friendly tax calculated from profits, gains, salaries and other incomes.

The fact is, until Congress' power to lay and collect taxes calculated from "incomes" is withdrawn from its powers, the American people __ labor, businesses and investors’ __ will continue to suffer the countless abuses and miseries they now suffer under this notoriously evil system of taxation.

Similarly, until the words "THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE" are removed from Federal Reserve Notes, and our freemarket system allows the people to once again determine which notes are safe and proper to accept in payment of debt, the real wealth created by America's labor, businesses and investors will be plunder by those who have given us our current corruptible money and taxing systems which are used in tandem to steal and plunder the real material wealth which America's labor, businesses and investors have worked to create!

    Judy,

You have fallen for an establishment concocted tax reform and are too thick headed to open your eyes to see it.

Real tax reform begins with the following 32 words as found in the Fair Share Balanced Budget Amendment:

“SECTION 1. The Sixteenth Amendment is hereby repealed and Congress is henceforth forbidden to lay ``any`` tax or burden calculated from profits, gains, interest, salaries, wages, tips, inheritances or any other lawfully realized money.

Getting back to the subject of the thread, Cruz's tax plan, just like Donald Trump's and the other leading candidates, circumvents the rule of apportionment! The very purpose of the rule of apportionment was to guarantee equal taxation whenever Congress taxed the people or their property directly!

Are we really to believe the founder of fairtax.org., Leo E. Linbeck Jr. and Herman Cain, both former ringleaders of the federal reserve banking cartel which plunders our national treasury?

Yes, I'm very thick-headed when it comes to the FairTax. But I don't support the FairTax because of Leo Linbeck of Herman Cain. I've supported a federal retail sales tax on new goods and services to replace the income tax for 40 years. The FairTax has a Rebate instead of item exemption to address the issue of essentials, which I like better than the typical exemptions for essentials. But either method of addressing essentials suits me fine as does a federal retail sales tax with no exemptions or Rebate for essentials. If they eliminate the Rebate and keep everything else the same, the 23% FairTax rate could be reduced to 20%, maybe less. But I think most people would prefer to keep the Rebate. It's voluntary, no one is required to sign up for it, although all US citizens and legal residents are eligible for it, regardless of income. I won't sign up for it, but I expect most people will.

What do you want to tax, Johnwk? And why do you want to use direct taxes subject to apportionment instead of general taxes that aren't?

As I recall from your posts elsewhere years ago, you don't like the FairTax because it taxes services and you consider that a tax on your labor, but because you aren't paying it, the customer is paying it, it's a tax on the service far beyond your labor, which isi just one component.

Facts are important. The 23% rate you're talking about is actually more like 30%.

Yes, they are so lets be sure you're telling them.

The effective mark up for the FairTax is 30%. But when you collect the tax the calculation is 23% not 30%, for example if someone pays you $100 in sales, 23% or $23 of that is FairTax to be sent to the State not $30 or 30%. If your monthly taxable FairTax sales are $10,000 that month, you send $2,300 to the State, not $3,000.

If the federal retail sales tax is structured the same as states compute it, you would charge the customer $77 for the item, add 30% in federal tax, which is $23, the total paid is $100, and you send $23 to the state of what you collected which is 23% of the sale, not 30%.

It's calculated the same way as income taxes called the inclusive method instead of the exclusive method. It's the same amount of money, but different ways of calculating it.

The FairTax is set up for that retailers price their goods and services including the tax, the way gas and cigarettes are taxed. But with the FairTax, your receipt shows the % and amount of FairTax you paid on your purchase. This is a much better way of collecting sales taxes because customers know before they get to the register what their item costs and how much money they need before they're required to pay for it.
