We can't know in advance what Trump will do with illegals

There has been a lot of discussion here about what Trump will or won't do about illegal immigrants if he becomes president. People are saying he can't do this, or he really doesn't mean this, or this is what he is really going to do when he says this or that.

But the reality is that nobody knows how to do the job until the job is started. Nobody has actually attempted to solve the illegal immigration problem because those who support illegal immigration have been standing in the way of all efforts to do anything about it. The only thing we need Trump to do as president is to actually start doing something about the problem. The only thing we can say for sure that qualifies as actually doing something is enforcing against illegal entry into the US and throwing out illegal immigrants who are already here.

We know that Trump will build walls to enforce our borders, this is the easy part. We would hope this also includes walls to prevent illegal entry from Canada, many illegals from Asia and South and Central America enter through Canada, as well as native Canadians.

But without enforcing against illegals already here, enforcing the borders is useless.

But what Trump will do about illegals already here is impossible to predict because the problem is such a mess. The only thing that we can be sure of is that he will actually start doing something about the problem. Only when the job is under way can we really say what the obstacles are and what Trump will do.

It is beyond debate that Trump will actually do something about illegal immigration if he wins the presidency. What he will actually do is impossible to say and, really, not the issue at this point.

I agree, pkskyali. And Trump will do everything possible within his means and authority to solve this problem including putting pressure on courts, congress, states and state and local law enforcement to do likewise. In order to achieve as much as possible as quickly as possible, he must have our support. There are still a lot of people in our country who want to stop it but don't want to deport the ones already here. You are so right that stopping them from coming in is not enough, because as we know the biggest lure are the ones already here so the ones here must be deported, removed families intact, as quickly as possible.

The good thing Trump has done is open the debate. The debate is healthy and it is not just happening here on the ALIPAC site. Dreamers/illegal/legal immigrants are also having this debate. They started out as usual pushing their legal friends and family members to vote for a candidate that they considered would help the illegal immigrant community. They narrowed their choice to Hillary, but all of a sudden they started getting push back. It seems that a lot of immigrants do not like or trust Hillary.

The fight really began when their friends began saying they were going to vote for Bernie Sanders. How could this happen did they realize that Bernie was against illegal immigrants taking the jobs of American's. Then there were the ones that after getting their citizenship started saying they were going to vote for Trump. They kept insisting that Trump was not going to deport anyone, that it was a ruse to get elected. All of a sudden there was a lot of name calling and the realization that once their illegal buddies got there's the story changed.

They are so afraid that with a new president they could lose their DACA. This was the first step towards getting everything they wanted and losing it would be a major setback. Many started encouraging everyone to find an American citizen and get married. Others started screaming for a revolt and riots. Then others started making plans to leave and go back to their home countries. They are saving their money and have started buying properties in their home countries.

Regardless of whether Trump can deport every illegal immigrant from the United States he has given us the chance to push to have the laws on the books enforced. Things have been too easy for the illegal immigrants. It is time Americans follow Trump's lead and start pushing our government to enforce the laws on the books. No more sanctuary cities, no more freebies for illegal immigrants, etc. If we went back to being tough on illegal immigrants and make this the new norm, just then maybe they would self deport. But the way it is now they will never leave and keep coming back and making more and more demands.

Throwing out illegal immigrants is not a one time project. The only reason it looks like a single project is because the problem has become so massive and so little is being done about it. Naturally, the change from doing nothing to doing something looks like a single project.

The hardest part will be removing the vast bulk of illegals that have accumulated from neglect over the decades. But the better part of this is assuming the regular process of policing and removing illegals as they are exposed. Once we confront the bulk and get a certain momentum going in removing the illegals, then this, along with border enforcement, will contribute to discouraging illegal immigration.

There are always going to be a certain number of people who managed to come here illegally. The point is to make their lives uncomfortable as possible and make this number as small as possible.
