Florida Enacts It's Own Version Of The SAVE America Act

The SAVE America Act, more commonly referred to as the SAVE Act, which was passed by House Republicans, remains stalled in the United States Senate. That hasn’t stopped Florida Republicans from taking matters into their own hands.

Governor Ron DeSantis has officially signed Florida’s own version of the bill, with the stated goal of securing “the security, transparency, and reliability of Florida’s election system.” According to reporting from Newsmax, it will, among other things, require any state ID issued or renewed after January 1, 2027, to display the immigration status of the holder.

That provision is being praised by activists, including William Gheen with ALIPAC, who said: “Anything that can help restore confidence and integrity in U.S. elections is imperative, and that’s what they’re doing.”

He went on to say that massive amounts of fraud and abuse in the American immigration system, paired with mass illegal immigration and nationwide cases of non-citizens voting in our elections, has destroyed public trust—and this is a good first step toward fixing that problem.

Gheen also called on state-level legislators across the United States to follow Florida’s example here. “Every state that we can get to pass this should, but also in states where we don’t believe we can get it passed, we should still get the legislation filed,” he said.

An alleged Mexican illegal migrant was charged with murder and arson after he allegedly killed four people by setting fire to a New York City apartment building.

Roman Amatitla, 38, was charged with “eight counts of murder in the second degree, arson in the first degree, two counts of assault in the first degree, arson in the second degree, two counts of assault in the second degree and petit larceny,” according to a press release from Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz.

The charges brought against Amatitla come after he allegedly “entered the ground floor of a three-story building” in Flushing on March 16. Amatitla proceeded to stay “in the vicinity of the property” for several minutes, urinated, and “entered and exited the premises” several times before going to a “nearby gas station,” according to the press release.

While at the gas station, Amatitla “purchased a beer, stole another beer and asked the clerk for a lighter,” however, he “settled for a pack of matches.” Amatitla went on to enter the apartment building “for a fourth time,” where he “lit a piece of paper on fire and placed the flaming paper on top of garbage located near a stairwell,” according to the press release.

“This was an act of mass murder,” Katz said in a statement. “As alleged, Roman Amatitla deliberately set a fire in an occupied building and killed four people, including a 3-year-old girl. Shockingly, the defendant had no known connection to the building or any of its occupants and selected the building at random.”

As a result of the fire, three-year-old Sihan Yang, 49-year-old Chengri Cui, 61-year-old Shin Chie Ming, and 64-year-old Hong Zhao died, according to the press release

On Thursday, prosecutors explained that Amatitla picked the apartment building “after losing his food processing job,” and “watched as people jumped from various windows” after allegedly starting the fire, the New York Post reported.

“He indicated that he watched as people jumped from various windows, some of them living, one of them dying,” Queens Assistant District Attorney Gabriel Reale stated.

Breitbart News reported in March that the grassroots group, Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) released a list which showed that roughly 1,411 people had been killed by illegal immigrants.

Agnes Gibboney stated that the number was “a very conservative number,” and suggested that it was more like 20,000 “at least.”

Two maniacal moonbats manage to get themselves killed by attacking ICE officers and Democrats will not shut up about them. In contrast, they have nothing to say about Americans killed by the illegal aliens they have let into the country to displace us — and there have been many.

The Americans for Legal Immigration PAC chose a good name (ALIPAC). Hey, we’re Americans, and we like immigration, as long as it’s legal. This is how most Americans think. It is an 80-20 issue. It buttresses the support for Trump among minorities and legal immigrants, who are the single most likely victims of illegal alien crime. And there is a lot of it.

Far more than anyone imagines, but the so-called fourth estate isn’t interested. The Millionaire media and their billion-dollar global empires are overwhelmingly hitting for Team Blue. Pro-open borders, pro-displacement, pro-Democrat kings.

Remember when Obama said it was good to be the King? He thought he was one, and his “people” imagined he was, and I didn’t mean the Burger King, which BK kicked to the curb, and you have to wonder if future trans-shooters, AWFLs, Gender-studies majors (and their adjunct professors), paid-protesters, and Antifa, made them do it. Pardon the likely redundancy, given that the potential trans-shooter could be a paid, Antifa-supporting AWFL gender-studies adjunct professor (with an ICE OUT Sticker and a trash can filled with empty wine bottles and those pyramidal Purina Gourmet Revelations cat food containers).

Talk about some jobs Americans don’t want to do and don’t need.

Oh, I forgot the elderly who survived the systemic progressive movement to kill them, we call COVID. The shots made me a Marxist moonbat! Ban ICE, No Kings, something mumble shout, what?

As for the list of dead Americans at the hands of illegal immigrants, ALIPAC has a huge list of receipts. There are probably at least 1000 names on it, and that’s – as they point out – just a fraction of the whole. We are bombing the crap out of Iran for killing fewer Americans (to prevent more American deaths.

The more human domestic parallel should not be lost on anyone. And while no one suspects the dregs of the jails and insane asylums that were emptied into the US under Biden/Harris to be working on a nuclear program, their effect on the culture and the Republic has atomic consequences.

One-party rule in America would result in significant long-term damage to the nation, with cultural and economic fallout worldwide. Many of those “would-be-affected” foreign countries think they’d be better off with a diminished America. And Democrats destroy everything they touch because Democratic Socialism is just socialism, and that’s how you become a second-world toilet with a real king and no protesting privileges. But the world and its economy would be harmed, as would anyone, anywhere who benefits from the uplift of a strong American government and economy.

As you scroll the list, and there is a lot of scrolling, you may notice that there are a lot of names one might not immediately equate to white colonialists unless you mean Spain, whose language, or some variant of it, many of the victims likely spoke, if not themselves, then in their household.

The linked names lead to reports shared in ALIPAC’s community forum. There are, as I said, a lot, but not all, and they are working to find more.

The harm done is unfathomable because the people who want the illegals here and would open the borders to invite more in or back can’t afford to have you know the human cost. They aren’t too keen on you knowing the final cost either, given that you are the one left with the check.

It is massive and could drive the middle and minorities back to the polls in the midterms if communicated effectively.
Democratic majorities will do everything to stop the return of America to Americans, and while shooting at federal agents looks bad, down on the street, women and children are being raped, and more people than we’ll ever know are being murdered to protect this agenda.

The list of 1,411 deaths “is a very conservative number because there are a lot of statistics that police officers do not keep [and] states do not keep,” said Agnes Gibboney. Her son — Ronald da Silva — was murdered by a previously deported illegal migrant in 2002. Gibboney helped prepare the ALIPAC list and told Breitbart News:

I wish that every city in the United States of America would be mandated to keep statistics on who commits what crime, when, and where they are from, because that would really give us an indication as to where these criminals, most of them, are coming from.

“I would say 20,000, at least,” have been killed by illegal migrants in crimes and auto accidents since 2000, she added.

ALIPAC posted a list of 1,409 victims of migrants last week and has been forced to add new names over the weekend.

Another list is kept by Orrin on X, a former lawyer in California. He has memorialized1,280 deaths since 2018, all of which are based on reports from government agencies or reliable media outlets that declare the murderers to be illegal migrants.

“There are so many I don’t report because I can’t get the confirmation about immigration status, though I’m probably 90 percent sure they’re illegal,” he told Breitbart News.

Orrin estimates that roughly 40 percent of his American deaths are caused by DUI accidents. A huge share of the deaths are Latinos, including some who are illegal migrants, he added.

ALIPAC’s list is tailored to record only the deaths of Americans or legalized migrants. But it likely has missed many American victims because police, politicians, and the media do not want to know the murderers’ legal status, he told Breitbart News.

“I know how hard it was to even be able to document many of those names at all, so I feel very confident [the true number is] north of 10,000,” said Gheen, who added:

Americans are being slaughtered in massive numbers by the non-enforcement of our existing border immigration laws … and it’s all 100 percent preventable through the adequate enforcement of our existing laws.

The federal and state governments refuse to collect the needed data, and they hide what they have from the public, said Orrin. In California, for example, “nobody has any idea because it is a ‘sanctuary state’ [so officials] can’t ask about immigration status, he said.

“The American people have no idea — they have no clue,” Orrin said, adding that the U.S. media provided comprehensive coverage for the deaths of two pro-migration advocates killed amid Minneapolis street confrontations.

Useful statistics would open a can of worms about the cost of illegal migration to ordinary Americans, Orrin said. “When it comes right down to it, [mass deportations] would be a big problem with the economy … [because] people would have to get paid more,” he added.

It has become easier to get information about killings in recent years because of growing public recognition, X, and President Donald Trump’s 2016 election, said Gheen. In the early 2000s, “the newspapers wouldn’t tell anybody, the Associated Press wouldn’t tell anybody,” he said, adding that Google and Facebook “are still actively suppressing this information.”

“Many of the names on the list we identified because [law enforcement] officers or media employees put their jobs at risk to leak the information to families,” Gheen added. “We used to call it ‘Lifting the rock’ … and many of these families have become activists,'” he added. “Trump was the first person to put the ‘Angel Families’ on a stage the media could not conceal.”

The media does not provide coherent coverage of the murders and killings of ordinary Americans, especially in comparison to the two Americans shot by ICE in Minneapolis, Orrin said, adding:

You’re not gonna hear anything on CNN about it … Out of my 1,300 [on his list] … maybe people have heard of 20 of them over the years. They’re all unknown people — that’s why I started doing this. I wanted people to see their faces.

The result, he said, is that “nobody really cares until they’re affected.”

Who Tracks What
The federal government does not keep track of the Americans killed by its own policy of stimulating the economy via the extraction of migrant consumers, workers, and renters from poor countries. Progressives are also loath to admit the massive cost to citizens caused by their greater empathy for foreigners.

However, the government does closely track many other types of deaths.

“In 2020, there were 161 workplace fatalities from ladders,” the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported in January 2024.

The CDC also tracks the number of Americans who are killed by cows: “Four fatalities occurred in 2003, two in 2004, six in 2005, and three each year during 2006–2008.”

The CDC recorded bathroom injuries in 2011: “In 2008, an estimated 234,094 unintentional nonfatal injuries among persons aged ≥15 years occurred in bathrooms, for an injury rate of 96.4 per 100,000 population.”

The CDC closely tracks the number of Americans killed by cars: “Over 8,000 pedestrians were killed on our nation’s roads in crashes involving a motor vehicle in 2022 … about one death every 64 minutes,” said a January 2026 report.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that 39,345 people died in traffic crashes during 2024.

The National Safety Council precisely tracks airline deaths: “The number of civil aviation deaths decreased from 358 in 2022 to 327 in 2023.”

The Electrical Safety Foundation reported in March on workplace deaths from 2011 to 2024, and concluded that “2,070 of these were due to contact with electricity.”

The National Weather Service reported 20 deaths by lightning in 2025.

“Twelve cases of drownings in these large-capacity [5-gallon] buckets constituted 24% of all infant and toddler (age less than 3 years) drownings investigated by the Cook County (Illinois) Medical Examiner’s Office from January 1985 to June 1989,” said a 1990 medical journal article.

There are no public government reports on the number of Americans killed by migrants, legal or illegal, since Congress reopened the doors in 1965. But there are some scraps of government information.

For example, a 2011 study by the Government Accountability Office reported 25,064 foreigners arrested for homicide from 2001 to 2004. The study was titled “Criminal Alien Statistics:
Information on Incarcerations, Arrests, and Costs.” The Department of Homeland Security produces some data.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency put out an annual report that cites the number of migrants arrested for homicides. But the report does not explain the number of murders or CUI deaths. The 2024 report says:

During FY 2024, the 81,312 criminal noncitizens ERO arrested had 516,050 charges and convictions, for an average of 6.3 charges or convictions per person. These charges or convictions included serious and violent offenses, including 57,081 assaults; 18,579 sexual assault and sex offenses; 12,895 weapons offenses; 11,822 burglaries; 5,462 robberies; 2,894 homicides; and 2,766 kidnappings …

Media organizations carefully track interesting trends – but not deaths by migrants. For example, in 2015, the Washington Post began spending heavily to track police shootings of African Americans. In 2017, 2o unarmed black men were killed by police, mostly in chases, according to the newspaper’s 10-year database.

Similarly, Reuters and ABC News are tracking deaths in migrant detention centers, and as of March 31, have reported 14 deaths.

The Chicago Tribune tracked deportations from Minneapolis, saying it offered “the first comprehensive look to date of the roughly 3,800 people detained and what happened to them.”

But none of the establishment media sites track the growing number of Americans killed by the federal and state governments’ refusal to exclude migrants from American communities.

Moreover, there is little official or unofficial effort to track the large number of migrants who died trying to reach the welcome offered by President Joe Biden. Still, pro-migration international groups do some tracking: “Since 1998, at least 8,000 undocumented migrants have died attempting to cross the border from Mexico to the US,” USAFacts.org reported in August 2024.

The establishment media has minimal interest in the number of migrants who die in U.S. workplaces. “Of the 1,229 fatalities to these [Hispanic or Latino] workers in 2024, 68.5 percent (842) occurred among foreign-born Hispanic or Latino workers,” the BLS reported in February 2026.

The business-backed Cato Institute downplays the scale of deaths by arguing that migrants’ arrest rates are lower than those of the U.S. population. That analysis likely understates crime by migrants, but Cato admitted on March 30 that illegal migrants from Latino and African countries are more criminal than citizens with roots in Europe or Asia.

Contrary to Cato, migrant crime rates are triple those of citizens, said a 2019 report by a pro-American reform group, the Federation for American Immigration Reform. The report quotes Peter Kirsanow, a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights: “Unfortunately, almost every public official … guards against disclosure of illegal immigrant crime data more tenaciously than disclosure of nuclear launch codes.”

Elites “don’t want to know, let alone divulge it … [and] they don’t want you to know,” Orrin said.

“We want these names read into the Congressional Record,” Gheen told Breitbart News.

Congress should also commission a monument to the Americans killed by the government’s refusal to enforce the border laws, he said: “That could be an evolving monument where names continue to get added, unfortunately, as a warning to future generations to never allow corrupt billionaires and politicians to do this to us again.”

After the shooting in Austin, the attempted bombing in New York, and more recent attempted attacks in Virginia and Michigan—all carried out by U.S. citizens—it’s becoming clear that many legal immigrants are failing to assimilate. Some openly hate the United States.

William Gheen with Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) says the importing of massive amounts of potential domestic terror threats was done intentionally by both leftists and globalists. “Their goal is to flood the country with as many foreigners as possible, with the goal of knocking conservatives and Republicans out of political power forevermore,” he said.

According to a recent Rasmussen poll, most Americans still support punishing employers who knowingly hire illegal-alien workers. They also support mandatory implementation of the E-Verify system.

Hiring illegal-alien workers has been prohibited nationally for years, but William Gheen with Americans for Legal Immigration PAC says this is another prime example of immigration laws that simply aren’t being enforced.

“Employing illegal immigrants is illegal,” Gheen said, “but for some reason or another, a huge percentage of the 20–30 million illegals in America have jobs!” Some of those illegal aliens work in the agriculture industry, while even more find employment in hospitality and construction.

Gheen went on to say that solving this problem is relatively simple. “Go after the big employers first,” he suggested. “Tell them, ‘We’re coming after you, and if you keep this up you’re going to jail.’ And you’ll watch these big companies shed their illegal workers in a heartbeat.”

He says one of the biggest reasons we haven’t seen that happen is because too many large employers have gotten involved politically—on both sides of the aisle—to stop strict enforcement of immigration and labor laws.

The end result is that many of these illegal-alien workers wind up as essentially “free-range wage slaves.” They often work under-the-table jobs in extremely long shifts for below-minimum wage and send huge portions of their earnings back to their home countries as remittances.

Gheen says that by enforcing these labor laws, you’d remove a huge incentive for illegal immigration.

Chip Roy (R‑TX), whose district includes parts of the Austin area, is teeing up a hard stop on immigration with a proposal he is calling the "Pause Act". The measure, he says, would temporarily halt all immigration to the United States until Congress pushes through a slate of changes to the existing system.

Roy has framed the idea as a way to force action on chain migration, birthright citizenship, and the H‑1B work‑visa program, along with new ideological vetting that would screen for adherence to Sharia law. According to KTRH, the bill would pause all immigration until Congress takes major action, and William Gheen of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) told the station that many supporters want legal immigration levels reduced to what they view as "more traditional, sustainable levels."

As reported by Newsweek, Roy outlined the plan on conservative commentator Benny Johnson’s podcast and said, I've got a bill that I'm going to be introducing that will "freeze immigration entirely," before listing the reforms he wants in exchange for ending the pause. A short clip of the appearance has been circulating widely online, giving the trial balloon plenty of airtime in conservative media.

What The Pause Act Would Do

Why Now: H‑1B Changes And Policy Shifts

Roy’s announcement lands just as the White House has overhauled H‑1B entry rules, including a controversial requirement that many new H‑1B petitions be accompanied by a $100,000 payment. That change has triggered industry backlash and litigation. With employment‑based visas already in the spotlight, Roy is stepping squarely into a national fight over how the United States brings in foreign workers.

Constitutional And Legal Hurdles

Any law or procedure that overtly treats people differently because of their religion or religious practices would face immediate First Amendment scrutiny. Analysts told Newsweek that the measure would face an uphill climb in the Senate and would almost certainly collide with business, university, and industry interests that depend on foreign talent to fill jobs and classrooms. Still, Roy’s move sharpens an ongoing intra‑party argument over how far Republicans should go in targeting even legal immigration ahead of next year’s campaigns.

Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) has proposed a bill that would institute a temporary complete halt to all immigration—part of an ongoing effort by conservatives to stop both legal and illegal mass migration that has plagued the U.S. for years.

Roy’s bill would pause all immigration until Congress takes major action on several fronts, primarily ending chain migration and birthright citizenship, as well as abolishing H-1B visas, which have been at the center of recent immigration debates.

William Gheen, founder and president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC), says the idea behind Rep. Roy’s bill has merit. “The vast majority of ALIPAC supporters want to see legal immigration levels greatly reduced to more traditional, sustainable levels—like we used to have,” he said.

Gheen did warn, however, that there are major risks when pushing any new immigration legislation. “Every multifaceted immigration bill that we’ve seen has contained some form of amnesty—or had some form of amnesty slipped into it,” he explained.

Essentially, any time a new bill is proposed—even one that sounds good—there’s a fear that it could be co-opted at the last second and used as a Trojan horse for mass amnesty.

That’s why Gheen suggests simply using existing U.S. law to crack down on—and even completely pause—mass migration into the United States. “The best thing for us would be for the Trump administration to continue using the full force of all American laws to reduce legal immigration levels, to the point where maybe in 10 years from now we can crawl out of this globalist death trap,” he said.

A key focus of Trump's 2024 campaign was closing the border and deporting illegal aliens, a promise he appears to be fulfilling. According to data from the Department of Homeland Security, his administration is set to break the record for the most deportations in a year.

DHS data shows that since January 20, over 515,000 illegal aliens have been deported by the administration and are on track to reach the 600,000 mark by the end of the year. Additionally, an estimated 1.6 million illegal aliens have self-deported during the same period.

William Gheen with Americans for Legal Immigration PAC praises the high deportation numbers, saying, "It's a good start. About 2 million down, and 20 million to go. All of the illegal aliens must return to their home countries and stay there. We want to see it continue."

He urges the Trump administration to double down on this success and suggests ending DACA as an effective measure. He stated, "Every day DACA remains in place and protects half a million illegal aliens, it signals to them that the people who brought them here are still in power and in control."

Gheen also warned that this progress could be reversed if exceptions are made and emphasized that to prevent another massive immigration crisis, "We need illegal aliens back in their home countries with a story to tell to all who will listen about how breaking into the United States was neither the right thing to do nor profitable for them."

5 Colleges Under Investigation Over DACA Scholarships

Education Secretary Linda McMahon announced last week that five different universities across the country are now being investigated by her department over scholarships that they're offering exclusively to DACA recipients.

According to McMahon, students who are Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients are being granted special scholarships by the University of Louisville, the University of Nebraska Omaha, the University of Miami, the University of Michigan, and Western Michigan University.

A list of scholarships that are not available to American citizens or any other legal residents has been made available online by the Education Department. McMahon also posted a statement on X, saying, "Non-citizens should not be given special preference over American citizens for scholarships at American universities."

William Gheen, founder of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, took it a step further. He said, "Americans are being discriminated against in our own country on a wide scale. The elites are seeking to elevate illegals over U.S. citizens at almost every opportunity."

Gheen went on to point out that there is a simple solution to all of this. He says that "the best answer to this problem would be for President Trump to completely end Obama's unconstitutional and overtly illegal DACA amnesty."

College activists are also calling these universities out for this practice. Trenten Rippey with Young Americans for Liberty says this is likely happening at other colleges across the country and says it's a symptom of the fact that the federal government has become far too involved in colleges.

Rippey says, "It's what's inflated a lot of these costs; it's what's allowed them to get away with these programs for so long. It's up to the taxpayers in each state to start putting some full-on audits on these colleges and start figuring out where the money's going."

President Donald Trump floated a form of semi-amnesty for illegal hotel, restaurant, and farm workers during a victory speech in Iowa late Thursday — but he also said a bitterly divided Congress would have to write the legislation.

“We’re working on legislation right now,” he told the friendly crowd as he bobbed and weaved between business supporters and pro-deportation voters, between migrants’ impact on jobs and crimes, and between current poll ratings and future turnout in the 2026 election.

But Trump’s pro-deportation supporters instantly shot down his trial balloon.

“What the hell is the point of throwing a quadrillion dollars at ICE if we only go after those [with] criminal records,” responded conservative Daniel Horowitz. “If you listen carefully, this [pitch] is not just farms, but many industries and will essentially just make this [deportation campaign] about those with criminal records.”

“Americans did not vote for amnesty. We voted for mass deportations. Amnesty is NEVER the answer,” said a tweet from the Immigration Accountability Project.”

Trump’s statement came the day after ALIPAC, a grass-roots, anti-amnesty group that helped kill several prior amnesty campaigns since 2004, announced that a member survey showed both overwhelming support for Trump and roughly 90 percent opposition a Trump’s giveaway. Founder William Gheen reported:

"If Trump keeps promoting this plan to change or skirt existing immigration laws, or attempts to give a pass-Amnesty to illegals and their employers via the required new legislation … his approval ratings among his base will collapse, and he will dismay, anger, and lose many Americans who supported him for his numerous promises to enforce our existing immigration laws without Amnesty."

ALIPAC’s survey was prompted by Trump’s July 29 comments on Fox, where he said, “I’m on both sides of the thing.” He added:

"We’re going to work it so that, some kind of a temporary pass, where [migrant] people pay taxes, where the farmer can have a little control as opposed to you walk in and take everybody away."

But President Joe Biden’s mass migration was “a sin we can never forget,” Trump added

Whenever “they start talking about giving legal status or any type of selective amnesty … we all got to throw fits,” Gheen told Breitbart News. “It’s going to be one of those things that could blow the engine on the Trump administration.”

The “throw fits” strategy has proved spectacularly successful: Trump was elected in November because of public opposition to Biden’s migration, and the pro-business GOP in Washington has agreed to spend roughly $170 billion over four years to curb illegal migration amid fierce establishment opposition.

Trump’s “We’re Going to Put You in Charge” Speech
Throughout his Iowa speech, Trump zig-zagged between the pain and pleasure points in his two-legged coalition of voters and employers.

Americans are getting more jobs and higher wages as companies react to the exit of migrants, he said to applause.

Yet he also suggested that only criminal migrants are being deported: “We want all the criminals out. Everybody agrees that we’re finding the murderers, the drug dealers. We’re getting them the hell out of here.”

A migration giveaway to employers is unpopular among his supporters, he admitted. “I got myself into a little trouble because I said I don’t want to take people away from the farmers,” he said, before reminding his audience that he needs their votes in 2026.

But employers want to keep their illegal workers, he said. “Farmers, look, they know better. They work with them for years. … for 14, 15 years, and they get thrown out pretty viciously, and we can’t do it,” he pleaded to the silent crowd. “We’ve got to work with the farmers and people that have hotels and leisure properties, too.”

Trump’s “hotels and leisure properties, too” comment echoes the lobbying pressure he is feeling from his friends in the real-estate business. Those property owners are losing value from his migration curbs because rising wages limit commercial renters’ ability to pay high rents.

“We’re going to put you in charge,” he told the employers. “We’re going to make you responsible [for the migrants]. And I think that that’s going to make a lot of people happy.”

He also warned the employers, saying, “The farmers will be responsible, and then if the farmers don’t do a good job, we’ll throw them the hell out of the country.”

But he also asked his Iowa voters if the plan was acceptable, saying, “Now, serious radical right people, who I also happen to like a lot, they may not be quite as happy, but they’ll understand, won’t they? Do you think so?”

In his speech, he repeatedly mentioned his business-friendly chief of Staff, Susie Wiles, but not his pro-American migration czar, Stephen Miller.

But Trump also suggested that he would keep his distance from the issue by passing the buck to Congress’s legislators and Brooke Rollins, his pro-migration Secretary of Agriculture:

Madam Secretary [Rollins], look at you with the white hat on. Do you think they’ll understand that you’re the one that brought this whole situation up … Rollins brought it up, and she said, “So we have a little problem. The farmers are losing a lot of people, and we figured it out.” And we have some great stuff being written.

Prior reports said Rollings is working on regulations to reduce lawsuit risks for farmers who tap into the unlimited H-2A program for farm workers. But getting any legislation through Congress would be a very difficult battle — and Trump did not suggest he would join the fight.

Democrats will block it unless the legislation allows the migrants to get citizenship and vote in federal elections.

Also, some GOP legislators will block the legislation unless it allows businesses to import so many additional migrants that Trump’s voters lose wages.

Also, many top leaders in the GOP are moving the party to a populist, pro-employee stance.

Trump just waved away the political difficulties during his long victory speech: “We’re going to do something — I think that’s going to be good.”

Trump did not address the public’s rising concern about the growing exclusion of American college grads from careers caused by the high inflow of legalized white-collar migrants into the U.S. economy via the H-1B and other visa programs.

Meanwhile, Democrats are fighting to prevent the deportation of the nation’s huge population of illegal migrants.

Navigate a fight over the Save Act. Stave off a government shutdown. Win two Senate seats to hand Republicans control of the chamber in 2025.

Those are the top priorities of Mitch McConnell during his final two months as GOP leader, when Congress returns next week from its summer recess.

The 82-year-old McConnell will guide his caucus for the final stretch of his career in the midst of a blistering presidential race and a fierce competition for Congress that could impact the political incentives of lawmakers under the U.S. Capitol dome.

The challenge that will consume most of this month is reaching an agreement to fund federal government agencies before the Sept. 30 deadline, an annual process that has become a stage for maximal demands and theatrical brinkmanship.

“The government funding battle is always a challenging time for Republican leaders, but it will be especially daunting this time around because of the election year stakes and House Republicans that are making unrealistic demands,” said Ron Bonjean, a former GOP Capitol Hill aide.

Some conservatives have already called for a government shutdown if Congress doesn’t push through the Save Act — House-stamped legislation that would require proof of citizenship to vote.

“This is supported by Senator Mike Lee. This is even supported by Elon Musk. But I’ll tell you something else, you know who came out against this yesterday? Mitch McConnell,” said Jack Posobiec, a senior editor at the conservative publication Human Events.

Most evidence suggests that non-citizen voting is not a widespread problem and it is not legal in any state for a non-citizen to cast a ballot in a federal election. A study of the 2016 general election by the Brennan Center for Justice analyzing 23.5 million votes found just 30 instances of non-citizen voting. <<---- FALSE CLAIM

In Kentucky, the state constitution already specifies that only residents who are U.S. citizens are eligible to vote in the state’s elections.

McConnell hasn’t commented publicly on the bill.

Nonetheless, conservatives have reacted bitterly to a report that McConnell aides have privately argued such legislation would backfire against Republicans in a Democratic-controlled Senate, particularly up against the threat of a shutdown.

Groups like the Americans for Legal Immigration political action committee have encouraged their members to call McConnell’s office “to stop helping non-citizens and illegals vote by blocking the Save Act!”

The issue could pit McConnell against Speaker Mike Johnson, who has signaled openness to attaching the measure to a government funding bill and is under pressure from the far right plank in his party as well as former President Donald Trump, who wants illegal immigration at the center of his campaign against Kamala Harris.

House conservatives want to force McConnell’s hand.

“Tie it to any spending we send over and tell the Senate we shouldn’t fund a government that doesn’t check citizenship to vote. Period,” Rep. Chip Roy of Texas posted on X.

A bridge, vets and nutrition

What’s at stake in the short-term funding package that must be passed before the clock strikes October?

In short, billions of dollars for veterans, low-income nutritional programs and Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, which collapsed after a container ship hit it last spring. McConnell has said the federal government will cover the “lion’s share” of the costs to replace the artery.

The Department of Veterans Affairs is facing a roughly $3 billion budget shortfall for fiscal year 2024 that needs to be resolved in order to fulfill disability, pension and education compensation payments to veterans. More than 117,000 Kentucky veterans are enrolled in the VA healthcare system.

The WIC program that assists low-income women and their children with food needs about $1.4 billion to remain solvent. It’s part of the farm bill, which is usually renewed every five years.

These are programs that are all likely to be tied up in a temporary funding agreement that will allow lawmakers to revisit larger questions at the end of the year or in the early months of 2025 when McConnell’s successor will be in charge.

But whether that future leader — likely Sen. John Thune of South Dakota or Sen. John Cornyn of Texas — will hold a Senate majority will come down to just a few states that McConnell and his political apparatus will obsess over during the next 60 days.

McConnell’s final map

At his stops around the commonwealth, McConnell is fond of telling constituents the obvious: He prefers serving as majority leader to minority leader.

But this cycle, he’s fighting for at least 51 seats to bolster his legacy and as a final show of force capping a historic 17-year run atop his conference.

He needs a pickup of just two seats.

With Republicans nearly certain to flip a seat in West Virginia, McConnell is eyeing races in the red states of Montana and Ohio to be the majority maker. He needs just one of those two.

The McConnell-aligned Senate Leadership Fund PAC has reserved $57 million in advertising targeting Democratic Sens. Sherrod Brown and Jon Tester.

“We do have a good map,” McConnell said in Owensboro last week. “We’re almost entirely on offense, and we pretty much won West Virginia already. That puts us at 50, which is dead even.”

But in an interview with Erick Erickson in August, McConnell also looked at the glass half empty, acknowledging “I’ve seen us screw up maps before.”

“He’s one of the best fundraisers and strategic thinkers the party has had in recent memory, and his parting gift to Republicans as he retires from leadership will be a new majority next Congress,” said Bob Salera, a former aide to the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Even so, McConnell turned the heads of political observers when he declined to say who he thought would win the presidency.

Before a crowd at Commerce Lexington, he said the Harris-Trump contest will be a referendum on inflation and the southern border, but stopped short of declaring Trump to be the favorite.

McConnell, who has endorsed Trump, has a contentious history with the former president.

But he’s repeatedly said his primary focus of the 2024 cycle would be clinching a Senate majority, which could prove to be a check on whoever occupies the White House in 2025.

Democrats Slam Popular Voter ID Bill as Racist and Xenophobic

Voter identification rules are just like Civil War racist exclusion laws, according to Democrats who denounced and voted against the GOP’s SAVE Act bill on the House floor.

“This is the 2024 version of the Jim Crow poll tax and we should vote against it,” claimed Rep. Jennifer McClellan (D-VA) as she denounced the bill, which requires people to prove their citizenship before casting a vote for Democrats or Republicans.

In the 1800s until the 1960s, many people were denied the vote when they did not pay the flat “poll tax” on individuals living in a jurisdiction. But McClellan is determined to disinter the bones of historical racism for Democratic advantage in 2024, saying:

This bill is essentially a poll tax, because I am not aware of a single proof of citizenship document that does not cost an individual money to get it [and] unless we are requiring every state to provide one for free … it’s an unfunded mandate.

In McClellan’s state of Virginia, individuals pay a trivial sum — $4 per year — for driver’s licenses, and $2 per year for simple identification cards. In contrast, political campaigns spent $14 billion to sway 154 million voters in the 2020 election — or roughly $90 per voter.

President Joe Bidee’s staff has promised to veto the bill if it passes the House and Senate.
GOP leaders are pushing the bill in the run-up to the election, after failing to attach the bill to must-pass spending measures in the spring.

The existence of many illegal migrants in U.S. cities helps Democrats build an emergency reserve of ballots via fraudulent registrations. Those illegal ballots can later be smuggled into the ballot boxes via mail-in voting and drop-off boxes, and even by illegal migrants who personally cast votes in low-security jurisdictions, said William Gheen, founder of the ALIPAC movement for tighter border security....

What will happen is that people[Democratic operatives] will be dispatched through unions, non-government organizations, Democratic Party auxiliaries, private contracting firms, and probably even the [smuggling] gangs themselves. They are all going to be given marching orders and lists and directives on how to go about this [ballot-creation campaign].

I think they’re going to try to deliver many of them through the mail. They realize that sending the illegals directly into the poll [stations] on election day is more likely to get them caught or be observed by pesky Republican poll watchers. So [vote by] mail is the safest way for them to do this.

Since 2021, Biden’s deputies have imported at least seven million migrants, many of whom are now sheltered, fed, and protected by federally-funded non-profit groups in cities where Democrat politicians control registration and voting rules — and also control the police force that can choose to not enforce voting laws.

“They’re going to sit the [migrants] down and say, ‘Joe Biden says it’s okay, [Barack] Obama says it’s okay, and if you don’t want to get deported, you need to do this,'” Gheen said.

The Democrats can also use their political allies in the smuggling gangs to deliver the message: “‘If you know what’s good for you, you’re going to do it,'” Gheen said.
“A Biden veto of the Save Act would be a national admission that Democrats are counting on illegal alien voters this year,” he said, adding:

I know a lot about this strategy because back in the 1990s, I was the highest-ranking college Democrat in the state of North Carolina, and it used to be my job. I was an early pioneer in “motor voter” registration, I registered over 3,000 voters, so I know a lot of different ways that it can be handled.

So Democrats are fighting tooth and nail to preserve their stockpile of illegal votes.
“Republicans want to throw up barriers because when people vote, they lose,” claimed Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA), adding:

They don’t want to hear black voices, brown voices, LGBTQIA voices, young voices. Our fundamental access to our democracy is being politicized, and this xenophobic attack that we’re debating today will make it harder for Americans to vote. Republicans proclaim that requiring IDs is a small ask but nearly 30 million people lack a valid driver’s license, and about 15 to 18 million adults don’t have access to documents proving their birth or citizenship.

Requiring migrants to prove their citizenship is “discriminatory,” claimed Rep.Delia Ramirez (D-IL), who is the U.S.-born daughter of illegal migrants from Guatemala.
