The Arizona statute as signed by the Governor is indeed constitutionally sound; it offers all the protection to any citizen that the 4th and 14th amendments to the united states constitution guarantees. We have analyzed the legal elements of the statute, and shown how it meets the constitutional standards of reasonable cause on the blog www.justicemyass.com.

The mass media does not want to feature the legal analyses that show the validity of the statute. I note that the Governor of Maryland has stated that immigration is a federal issue, and when the Congress fails to act, then "rogue" actions like Arizona's statute are the result.

There is nothing "rogue" about the statute which allows check for valid id only after there is reasonable cause to stop, detain or arrest someone for committing another crime, not unlawful entry. When that has been done, then if the officer has reasonable suspicion of illegal presence he can demand id, and all the person has to produce is a driver's license or other form of valid id showing his or her lawful residence.
