    To: "IFIRE List -Cheree Calabro AAA" Subject: **IFIRE ALERT**Senate votes against funding border fence!

    IFIRE members please note, these Senators voted for the border fence (S2611)before they voted against funding the border fence! This is why we must separate enforcement from any guest worker plan. If we don?t, we?ll only get screwed again! Cheree

    You're welcome. Actually a lady named Rachel Foster in Sierra Vista AZ sent me the information in 3 different e-mails, and I combined it into one added my commentary and the "take action" stuff and sent to my US network. It's perfect to validate our "no amnesty or guest worker plan until we see enforcement for several years cause we aren't going to be suckered like in 1986."

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    SENATORS PROMISED "ENFORCEMENT" JUST LIKE IN 1986.

    S-2611 ISN'T EVEN LAW YET AND THEY'RE ALREADY STIFFING US!

    A. SENATOR SESSIONS CALLS THE BLUFF OF "PRO-ENFORCEMENT" SENATORS.

    A. SENATOR SESSIONS CALLS THE BLUFF OF "PRO-ENFORCEMENT" SENATORS.

    ================================================== ========================

    Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama had the backbone to call the bluff of all the Senators

    who voted YES on the "not an amnesty" bill S-2611. They voted for 300+ miles of border fence, knowing that it wouldn't happen without the $$$$. When Sessions backed them

    against the wall with an opportunity to "put their money where their mouths were," every one of them showed their true treasonous colors.

    Washington Times tells most of the story in "Senate denies fund for new border fence," Washington Times, July 14, 2006 http://www.washingtontimes.com/national ... -1188r.htm

    As usual, Senator John McCain leads the ranks of hypocrites by voting NO on both the border fence and extra investigators. He did the same thing back in 1986 by voting YES on the "one-time only" amnesty, then two years later voting NO on funding the Workplace Verification Program. As they say at the San Diego Zoo, "a leopard doesn't change its spots." Once a sell-out, always a sell-out.

    And McCain has lots of company in the U.S. Senate.

    ================================================== =====================

    B. CONTACT YOUR TWO SENATORS WITH RAVES OR CONDEMNATION

    ================================================== =====================

    Let them know you ARE paying attention to their votes, especially if they're facing re-election.
    Send them an e-mail or even better a fax, making clear your opinion of their vote.
    Follow up with a phone call to both Washington (1-888-355-358 and their local district office (find the phone and FAX numbers at www.senate.gov).
    Contact your congressman (www.house.gov), both in Washington and the local district office to let them know your opinion of your Senators' votes.

    F. MONEY THAT SENATORS DID APPROVE SPENDING (only one example)

    ================================================== =====================

    Of course, this is hardly the silliest squandering of taxpayers' money--there are plenty more in abundance. But grants to hold Chinese symposia on "the rule of law" when our own politicians don't seem to understand the term themselves!

    If the Senate really went looking for places to cut to pay for the 800 investigators and the two-layer border fence, they'd easily find it by cutting monetary aid to groups like Catholic Charities, La Raza, LULAC and others who help illegal aliens.

    That's a "one-two" punch that really gets "more bang for the buck."

    Description
    The USAID Regional Development Mission/Asia (RDM/A) program in China in the past has focused on two objectives: (1) improve China?s legal infrastructure as it opens itself into more of a market economy, and (2) assist Tibetan communities to preserve their cultural traditions, promote sustainable development, and conserve the environment. The first element supported strengthening the rule-of-law in China through training conducted by Temple University. Temple established a Master of Laws program in Beijing, China in 1999 to educate well-placed Chinese judges, government officials, prosecutors and lawyers in U.S. and international legal principles. This program operated in partnership with the law faculty of Tsinghua University and was the only foreign law degree-granting program approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education. Temple also conducted specialized training programs for Chinese judges and prosecutors as part of their professional legal education.In FY 2005, USAID supported programs have made notable progress both within the Tibetan Autonomous Region and other provinces of China with significant ethnic Tibetan populations. USAID RDM/A also conducted regional programs in the areas of HIV/AIDS and infectious disease programs which benefited China. In FY 2006 USAID RDM/A received funding to do a new university program. This RFA is meant to solicit proposals to be funded with the rule-of-law funds budgeted in FY 2006 and anticipated for FY 2007.
