    I got a response from Gillibrand, the same old BS:

    January 25, 2010

    Dear Mr. xxxxxxx,

    Thank you for contacting me about the need for immigration reform. I share your concern that Congress must address this issue. Some have used immigration reform in a divisive, unproductive way. We must change the nature of the conversation to ensure a common-sense solution that works for all Americans.

    We are a nation of immigrants. In New York alone, there are millions of Americans who came from other countries and their traditions help to make New York the rich, vibrant state that it is. In traveling throughout the state, I consistently hear from farmers and businesses about the need for trained, reliable workers, not all of whom they can find domestically. I also hear from families torn apart by laws that don't make sense. At the same time, we hear that there are between eleven and fifteen million undocumented people living in America. Many Americans are concerned about this, particularly at this difficult economic time.

    I believe in right-sizing immigration and fixing our broken system. I support comprehensive reform that would:

    .reunite families of U.S. citizens and legal immigrants;

    .treat all those in the U.S. with respect and due process and that means no more raids;

    .fix our outdated system that ignores the real needs of America and the immigrants who are contributing to our great nation;

    .address the need for future immigrants, temporary workers and students;

    .ensure good working conditions and wages for all American workers.

    Only then can we close the back door to illegal immigration. As a Senator, I have already taken a number of steps on this common sense approach to immigration. I have cosponsored the DREAM Act, which would provide better educational opportunities for immigrant students. It places students 16 years old or younger on a path to citizenship upon acceptance to higher education, high school graduation, or military service. Every student deserves the opportunity to achieve his or her God given potential and many of these young people have never known any other home.

    I am also working on legislation that would help immigrants succeed by providing English language instruction. This bill would also provide much-needed tax breaks to teachers and businesses to promote English language instruction. It is important to empower our immigrant community by providing the tools they need to succeed. By learning English they can likely achieve their potential and contribute to the success and economic growth of America.

    Thank you again for writing to me about this important issue. For additional information on immigration or other important issues being discussed in the United States Senate, please visit my website at http://gillibrand.senate.gov and sign up for my e-newsletter.

    Hopefully she won't be in office long enough to vote on anything, rumor has it Rep. Peter King may be running against her.

    Oh I hope Pete King runs against her! YIPPEE! I love Pete King on illegal immigration. He works really really hard on that issue for US. He would be great in the US Senate! But they'd need to find a good replacement for him in the House.

    GO PETE! DO IT! RUN FOR US SENATE!!
