Pro-Amnesty Groups Culpable In Record Deaths Of Illegal Aliens In U.S. Desert & Mexico

By Roy Beck, Sunday, August 29, 2010, 3:36 PM EDT - posted on NumbersUSA

Terrible recent reports of a record pace of deaths of illegal aliens in the U.S. desert and in Mexico at the hands of ruthless gangs point an accusatory finger at the political, media and religious leaders of this country who talk incessantly about their plans to reward the act of illegal immigration with U.S. citizenship.

It is not a stretch at all to say that people who talk big about winning a "comprehensive immigration reform" amnesty bear great guilt for enticing these illegal aliens to their deaths.

Amazingly, many pro-amnesty leaders and reporters have been saying that those of us who push for crackdowns on illegal immigration somehow have contributed to these deaths.

Humanitarian groups such as Humane Borders in Tucson say that the increased law enforcement presence only means that people will go to greater lengths to come to the U.S.

-- "Border deaths in Arizona may break record," by Nicole Santa Cruz, Los Angeles Times, Aug. 24, 2010

Got that? Greater law enforcement to make it more difficult to get into Arizona and to stay in Arizona supposedly has caused illegal aliens to be more enthusiastic about risking their lives.

72 ILLEGAL ALIENS KILLED IN MEXICO

And what about the six dozen illegal aliens from Central and South America who were trying to get to the U.S. but got kidnapped and killed while crossing Mexico. It appears that they were kidnapped for ransom from their families and then killed when the ransom didn't come.

The communities that send these illegal aliens have long known that the trek across Mexico is far more dangerous than even the trek across the U.S. desert. And yet, the illegal aliens still come.

Why? I say the motivation is immoral materialism.

People who die in the desert while breaking U.S. laws in order to illegally take a job and illegally increase their income and consumption are among the worst kind of materialists. Since the Pew Hispanic Research Center has found that most illegal aliens crossing the Mexican border are far from hungry or destitute and in fact quit a job back home to become an illegal alien, it is clear these are people who value more things and more money above even their own lives.

But they do not bear all the guilt for these quasi-suicidal decisions.

They succumb to this kind of materialism in much the same way that a teenage boy succumbs to the materialism of stealing a car when he sees the driver has left the keys in the ignition of an unlocked vehicle.

Who is leaving the key's in the car? Why, that would have been Pres. Bush and and now Pres. Obama, the Democratic-led Senate and House of today and the Republican-led Senate earlier. All have refused to take away the jobs magnet for illegal immigration.

Only the Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives (in 2005) has been willing to pass legislation to require that every U.S. worker be run through a verification system to keep illegal aliens out of U.S. jobs. (But the Republican-led Senate and Pres. Bush blocked the bill.)

I am convinced that mandatory verification would end most deaths in the desert. That verification is in the bi-partisan SAVE Act (main co-sponsors are Democrats Rep. Shuler of North Carolina and Sen. Pryor of Arkansas) which would pass Congress easily if a vote were allowed.

But Senate Majority Leader Reid and House Speaker Pelosi will not allow a vote to take away the jobs magnet. They insist on leaving the keys in the ignition and then wring their hands over what a terrible thing it is that kids are dying in crashes during their joy rides.

There is an even greater enticement for illegal aliens to risk their lives.

Reid, Pelosi, Pres. Obama and the majority of the bishops of the Catholic, United Methodist, Lutheran and Episcopal denominations constantly send the message around the world that if people will hurry up and get into this country illegally that they (these national leaders) will do everything possible to provide the illegals with a permanent work permit, a permanent residency card and a path to U.S. citizenship.

You think that isn't on the minds of the illegal aliens as they choose to subject themselves to the Arizona desert summer sun?

Polling firms have found that millions of workers in Mexico and other nearby countries say they would move to the U.S. if only it were legal for them to do so. But the vast majority of them have too much respect for the rule of law and have too much respect for their families and for their life itself to take the risk of becoming an illegal alien.

But for the most reckless and most materialistic of these citizens of other countries, the reward for illegal immigration in the U.S. that is being offered by the national politicians, editorial writers and bishops is just too tantalizing.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the previous record of desert deaths was in 2007 in Pima County, Arizona where 218 bodies were found.

Since then, the U.S. is suffering a jobs depression and many states, like Arizona, have gotten tougher in enforcing immigration laws.

So, why have 170 bodies already been found in Pima County this year, which promises to be the most grisly yet?

I believe it is because the U.S. voices promising amnesty have never been louder and have never come from such a wide array of the nation's elites.

Will this carnage stop as long as amnesty is on the table as a possibility?

....and we get the "bottom of the barrel!"

So true! A few years back their was an article here on ALIPAC about how mexicans go back home after spending 17k to get their truck all "dudded up" with special paint jobs, loud stereos, fancy rims, lift kits, etc - to parade them around at some festival they have down there. Sickening!

In the meantime they die for it and it's all our fault!
