Thread: Report From San Juan Capistrano, California - All Illegals

Last night at the SJC City Council meeting the Mayor and his court overwhelmingly, unanimously and with conviction voted to extend the lease for the CHEC organization to operate in a small neighborhood in SJC.

The CHEC organization, a Collaboration with Mission Hospital, The Mission at SJC, The city of SJC and the Capistrano School District, provides services of health, education and welfare to the predominately illegal alien population in SJC and all of Orange County.

The city council members expressed their disappointment and shame for the American members of the SJC community that oppose illegal immigration and are concerned for their safety.

Mayor Soto, expressing that his staff advises they found no evidence to support the claims of the citizens who came forward, one after another, to complain about the traffic, trash and strangers knocking on their door looking for the drug rehab, food stamps, rental assistance, etc., services provided by CHEC.

In Councilman Neilson's closing remarks on the subject, he invited the residents to come back and asked for an addendum to the motion, extending the CHEC lease, that requires the city council revisit this issue in six months to follow up with the residents to discuss the problems. Stating if CHEC does not follow the lease to the letter of the lease they could be evicted.

A good question is why would the residents be believed in six months and not now?

Each councilmember and the Mayor expressed the great job CHEC is doing providing services to the three illegal alien neighborhoods and Orange County and that it does not make a difference whether CHEC is serving illegal's.

The Mayor made it very clear that SJC is a sanctuary for everyone regardless of their legal status.

The Mayor has publicly opened up the City of San Juan Capistrano, in the same way the Mayor of Los Angeles opened the City of Los Angeles to out of control crime. The words "don't ask" and "I don't care what their legal status is" were said or implied by the Mayor and all of the councilmember's in their scolding of the legal, voting residents of SJC and their loving kindness and welcome of illegal aliens.

1. The Mayor of SJC sits on the boards of CREER as President, "awards scholarships to underprivileged Latino college students based on demonstrated need, receives some funding from the city of SJC;

2. the Mission San Juan Capistrano Finance Board as a Director, Catholic Charities organization and the CHO is part of the "Collaborative" board of CHEC;

3. Old Mission School San Juan Capistrano as a Board Member, once again involves the Mission, which is part of the Collaborative board of CHEC;

4. The Mission Hospital Latino Advisory Board, same as number 2 and also advocates for one group of people living in SJC, not the entire community;

5. his own organization, The Soto Company Scholarship Fund, stated organization on the Mayor's business website with no supporting information. The Mayor's organization's name suggest the mission is the same as CREER.

The Mayor of SJC is using his position, which should be to uphold the Oath of Office and the laws of the US. Instead he has invited lawlessness to the City of San Juan Capistrano just as Antonio Villaragosa in Los Angeles.

Please send this out to your email lists and ask that "We the People" start looking for new candidates throughout the US that will provide representation of "We the People" when entrusted with our votes.

SJC use to be a beautiful city. It will be little Tijuana soon and the people will be moving out. WHY in the world would be continue to support California.

The city of Santa Monica tried this about 20 - 30 years ago with disastrous results. Within 2 years of inacting it the city was overrun with homeless persons sleeping everywhere and panhandlers.
And thats without counting the illegals !
Just sit back, take a deep breath, get some popcorn and watch the fireworks happen.

Unbelievable ! I've spent a lot of time there over the years. These beautiful cities are falling like dominoes ! LA was always a rat hole, but not these wonderful beach towns. Property is very expensive as are the rents. How in hell can the IA's afford to live in these towns ? So sad to see this happening all over the US !

These were my thoughts exactly. My best friend live in Capo Beach and I can't figure out how they afford to live there....unless they have 5 families to a house....

Neighbors protest health center that they say encourages illegal immigration

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO – Mission Flats residents learned at Tuesday's City Council meeting that their neighborhood health center will remain for at least two years, and some of them are unhappy.

Calling themselves Pro Patria America, a group of about 30 of the center's neighbors formed to protest the Community Health Enrichment Collaborative. Members said that they believe the privately funded, not-for-profit center encourages illegal immigration by not requiring clients to prove their citizenship.

Pro Patria founder Tony Brown said the group has met at his home three times to discuss illegal immigration and CHEC.

"The main issue that brought us together is the impacts of illegal immigration on our city and our mutual frustration with our city seemingly going along with it," Brown said.

CHEC is partnered with Mission Hospital and has served San Juan for 10 years. It has been in Mission Flats since 2006.

The city agreed in 1994 to use the CHEC property as a community services center as part of an agreement between the city and the building's previous owner, the County of Orange. Several community groups used the building before CHEC.

Like the former community groups, CHEC leases the property from the city for $395 per month.

Though sometimes called a clinic, the center does not provide any medical care.

The center, which was created to serve low-income residents, hosts a wide variety of workshops and education services, ranging from CPR and first-aid classes to anger management counseling and homework tutoring.

It also refers clients for immunizations and teaches them how to apply for government services like food stamps and Medi-Cal.

Residents have complained to the city that CHEC encourages parking problems, increased traffic, trash, unsupervised children, strangers and crime.

According to city staff, the center serves six clients per day on average, and less than half of these drive to the clinic.

"Staff has been monitoring the facility for the past few months on different days and times, and the observation has been very few people on site," city staffer Karen Crocker told the city council.

Peter Bastone, president of CHEC-supporting Mission Hospital, said the center will be careful not to offend its neighbors.


"We will be sensitive to the people who live on that street," Bastone said. "I think we’ve always been that way. It’s pretty clear we are not the only large organization on that campus."

Lieut. Mike Betzler said he examined each police call from the neighborhood near CHEC to look for crime trends.

"We couldn't find any calls of significance that showed any crime trends," Betzler said.

Brown accepted Betzler's findings, but said some minor crimes may not be reported.

"I wouldn't dispute (Betzler's) story, but it's not the whole story," Brown said.

Brown said he expects Pro Patria to shift its attention from CHEC to neighborhoods in San Juan he describes as overcrowded. He said the group may run one or two of its members in this year's city council race.

The center will continue serving people in the community, regardless of immigrant status, and will try to be a good neighbor to the people of Mission Flats, Bastone said.

"This isn't really an immigration issue," Bastone said. "It's a good neighbor issue. We don't mind (our neighbors) monitoring us or watching us. We will continue meeting the needs of the community."
