Canadian officials make several busts at the border

LEWISTON, NY-- Just across the border in Ontario, Canadian authoriites have released details on several recent busts at the border.

The Canada Border Services Agency says on October 8, a transport truck entering Canada at the Lewiston-Queenston bridge was found with duffel bags and two boxes containing more than $1.3 million in unclaimed U.S. cash. The men in the truck were arrested and turned over to the RCMP.


On October 16, 2014, agents arrested a U.S citizen for allegedly making false statements and evading compliance at the Rainbow Bridge.


Officials say the citizen was carrying several undeclared loaded handguns and a shotgun. The guns were seized and the man was turned over to the Niagara Police Service.


On August 25, officers seized seized eight packages of cocaine at the Peace Bridge. The suspect, a Calgary resident, was arrested and turned over to the RCMP.
