$3 million drug bust made in Minnesota

$3 million drug bust made in Minnesota

    Last update: May 30, 2007 – 5:26 PM

Marijuana with a street value of about $3 million was discovered by the State Patrol in a semitrailer truck in the Twin Cities area on Tuesday and two men in the truck were arrested, federal authorities said.

The northbound truck was stopped on Highway 52 in Inver Grove Heights about 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The marijuana, weighbing 2,750 pounds, from Mexico via El Paso, Texas, was hidden in the truck amid pallets holding about 41,000 pounds of jawbreaker candy, the authorities said. The truck was stopped on Interstate Hwy. 494 near Mendota Heights.

Two men were arraigned today in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis charged with interstate trafficking of marijuana. One of the men is an illegal alien, the authorities said, adding that the drugs were being moved by a Minnesota-based drug-trafficking organization.

Yeah, and they'll get off the hook for trafficking, just like all the other illegals do. This insanity has to stop.

And just think how much easier it will be to get the goods up there when they build the new NAFTA superhighway and the US/Mexico border is a mere speed bump?

Seriously though, do you ever wonder if legalizing the damned stuff would help to make the drug smuggling problem go away?
