‘Not Just A Narrative!’: CNN Host Cuts Off Analyst Who Tries To Claim Migration Issue Is A ‘Narrative’

CNN’s Poppy Harlow interjected Thursday morning after CNN political analyst Natasha Alford tried to claim the issue of migration is a “narrative” issue from the Republican Party.

Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Wednesday night New York City will be destroyed by the migrant crisis and slammed President Joe Biden for ignoring his calls for help.

“I’m gonna tell you something New Yorkers, never in my life have I had a problem that I didn’t see an ending to,” Adams said. “I don’t see an ending to this.”

“This issue will destroy New York City. Destroy New York City.”

Alford argued that Republicans have made immigration their issue while Biden struggles with that “narrative.”

“I think what Republicans have successfully done is to make immigration their issue. Whether their proposed solutions are actually solutions is a different thing, but showing the concern for it somehow gives the impression that they actually have a solution for it. And I think what Joe Biden often struggles with is that narrative. Being able to reverse a narrative of failure and struggle and sort of reaction to crisis–”

“It’s not just a narrative!” Harlow chimed in. “Mayor Adams has called on the Biden White House over and over again for more action, more funding, and more things to do.”

“Right and I’m saying that this is about not reacting to the crisis, but coming out and saying this is how we own this problem. This is what our policy proposals are. And Donald Trump, as simple as he can be, his simple ‘build a wall’ resonated with people because it was some sort of solution. If you were to ask the average voter how do Democrats approach immigration, I’m not sure they could tell you how Democrats approach it.”

“That’s a failure of policy, not just communications,” CNN’s senior political analyst John Avlon said.

Adams has frequently sounded the alarm on the migrant crisis, telling New Yorkers in August that “eventually this is going to come to a neighborhood near you, and it is – 91,000 people.” Adams said Biden’s offer of a liaison to help field the crisis wasn’t good enough, saying he’s already made clear to the White House what he needs to get things under control.

“We need to allow people to work,” Adams said. “There’s nothing more anti-American than you can’t work. We need to control the border.”
