Border agents react to migrants demanding entry into the US
How will the US respond to the caravan of asylum seekers demanding entry at border? Hector Garza, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council, shares insight on 'Your World.'
Nearly a dozen people suspected of traveling through Mexico to the U.S. border as part of the immigrant "caravan" from Central America are now facing new complaints for immigration-related violations, including entering the U.S. illegally.
A federal law enforcement official told Fox News on Monday that the Justice Department has filed complaints against 11 suspected members of the caravan.
MEMBERS OF MIGRANT CARAVAN REMAIN DEFIANT AFTER US AGAIN DENIES BORDER ENTRY
Most of the defendants allegedly entered the U.S. illegally, which is a misdemeanor.
One defendant is accused of having entered the U.S. after having previously been deported, which is a felony.
Defendants, according to the probable cause statement, were seen near an area known to border patrol agents as "Goat Canyon," roughly four miles from the San Ysidro port of entry in San Diego, California.

Should the caravan of immigrants seek asylum in Mexico?
Two of those facing new complaints are Salvadorans, six are Hondurans and three are Guatemalans.
The "caravan" of Central Americans started moving toward North America on March 25. The group of around 200 immigrants traveled through Mexico to the U.S. in an effort to seek asylum at the American border.
Most of those who have been trying to enter the U.S. remain stalled in Mexico after Customs and Border Protection said Sunday that the agency "reached capacity at the San Ysidro port of entry for CBP officers to be able to bring additional persons traveling without appropriate entry documentation into the port of entry for processing."
President Trump, who has often tweeted about the immigrants, said Monday night that the "'caravan' that is openly defying our border shows how weak & ineffective U.S. immigration laws are."

The migrant ‘caravan’ that is openly defying our border shows how weak & ineffective U.S. immigration laws are. Yet Democrats like Jon Tester continue to support the open borders agenda – Tester even voted to protect Sanctuary Cities. We need lawmakers who will put America First.

He added that "Democrats like Jon Tester continue to support the open borders agenda – Tester even voted to protect Sanctuary Cities. We need lawmakers who will put America First."
Trump called for Tester, the Montana senator, to resign on Saturday following a White House report disputing his allegations against the president's pick for the next secretary of Veterans Affairs, Adm. Ronny Jackson. Jackson ultimately withdrew.

DOJ Files Criminal Charges Against Suspected Caravans Members for Illegal Entry

The Department of Justice announced the first criminal charges filed against suspected members of the Central American migrant caravan who attempting to turn themselves into U.S. authorities at the border in San Ysidro in order to seek political asylum in the United States, announced Monday.
Eleven people allegedly entered the country illegally and one defendant is also alleged to have been previously been deported and was charged with illegal reentry. They were apprehended by Border Patrol agents between two and four miles west of the San Ysidro Port of Entry.
“When respect for the rule of law diminishes, so too does our ability to protect our great nation, its borders, and its citizens,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said. “The United States will not stand by as our immigration laws are ignored and our nation’s safety is jeopardized. U.S. Attorney Adam Braverman and his team should be commended for quickly filing illegal entry charges for individuals apprehended along the southwestern border. We will continue to work with our partners in each U.S. Attorney’s Offices to aggressively pursue prosecutions of criminal illegal entry.”
The complaints allege that the defendants knowingly and willingly entered into the United States at a time and place other than as designated by immigration officers, and "eluded examination and inspection by immigration officers."
“The American Dream has beckoned immigrants from across the globe because of the promise that prosperity and success are within reach for all,” said United States Attorney for the Southern District of California Adam L. Braverman. “Those immigrants have contributed their voices and perspectives to make up our uniquely American experience. But the foundation for the American Dream, and what allows our democracy to flourish, is commitment to the rule of law. These 11 defendants face charges now because they believed themselves to be above the law. Those seeking entry into the United States must pledge fidelity to the law, not break them, or else face criminal prosecution.”
