15 found residing illegally in Ellsworth
Wednesday, August 16, 2006 - Bangor Daily News

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ELLSWORTH - Fire officials responding Monday afternoon to a call about an unpermitted burn at a residence off Water Street found something else there that raised concerns: several suspected illegal immigrants.

After dousing the small fire, firefighters spoke briefly with a man of Mexican descent and learned that many others might be staying at the residence illegally. Ellsworth police officers were called to investigate.

"One of them spoke broken English and advised that there were several others inside the house," Officer Chad Wilmot said Tuesday. "When asked if they were there illegally, he kind of looked toward the ground and nodded his head."

Ten adult males and one juvenile male, all of Mexican descent, were found at the residence. None could provide valid identification, Wilmot said.

While police detained the 11 at the residence, a van pulled into the driveway and then turned around. Police followed the van and pulled it over to find four more suspected illegal immigrants, Wilmot said.

"This is definitely the most we've had around here at one time," he added.

The immigrants told police that they were in Maine raking blueberries, but Wilmot said he didn't know who their employer was.

"We're still working on finding that out, but they have been cooperative," he said.

If further investigation is warranted, however, Wilmot said it would be done by federal authorities.

The 15 were detained briefly Monday afternoon before they were turned over to officials with the U.S. Immigration and Customs enforcement department.

They each were taken to Penobscot County Jail in Bangor, where they will be held pending deportation hearings, Wilmot said.

Back in Virginia, the illegals would pack 20 - 25 people in a 2/3 bedroom townhouse

What? Without having his lawyer present or having his Miranda rights read to him in Spanish?

Obviously, this was illegal intimidation by the officer, undoubtedly due to racial profilling. Internal Affairs will be looking into this officer's conduct pronto.
It's like hell vomited and the Bush administration appeared.
