Recently, tea party profiteer and FreedomWorks chairman Dick Armey has taken a more vocal stance against anti-immigrant rhetoric. In an interview with Charlie Rose that aired late last week, Armey went as far as to list former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) as representing part of the “tea party tentâ€

Here we go again. Anti-immigrant vs. anti-illegal immigrant. What is so hard to understand about?

I give thanks every day that Rep. Michael Burgess is my Congressman rather than Dick Armey (whose former seat he now holds) or Armey's son (whom he defeated to win the Republican primary to run for the seat). Burgess--an experienced physician who certainly is neither "harsh" or "mean-spirited"--has voted consistently against amnesty for illegal aliens, and he seems to have become even stronger in this position of late. I hope Dick Armey can be derailled from putting his face on the front of the Tea Party movement!

Dick Armey needs to be thrown out of the Tea Party. His lies about Alipac being anti-immigrant tells me he'd lie about anything else to further his agenda.

While it might seem that Armey would be glad to receive tea baggers of any kind, the long-term viability of the right-wing movement largely rests on its ability to embrace a more inclusive immigration approach and score much-needed political points with the growing Latino electorate.
