287 (g) Immigration Training on Hold

287 (g) Immigration Training for Pinal Deputies on Hold

    Mar. 28, 2009 09:40 AM
    Associated Press .

Plans by Pinal County to roll out an immigration task force are on hold because federal training for local law enforcement is being reviewed.

Sheriff's Lt. Tamatha Villar says eight Pinal deputies and detention officers should have been halfway through their training by now. But the Department of Homeland Security is reassessing the so-called 287(g) program and has canceled classes.
Pinal Sheriff Paul Babeu wants a separate immigration unit to focus on human smuggling.

Local enforcement is overseen by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The program has been controversial - about half of the agencies reviewed by the federal Government Accountability Office reported concern in their communities that local officers were using it for minor violations and racial profiling.

That's because Pelosi thinks it's Un-American to enforce immigration laws, despite the words of the Constitution. Frankly, it's un-American to receive Amnesty or live in our country illegally.

Racial profiling crap! At 2 a.m. a cop chases down a car weaving all over the road, fixed with a stolen license plate and finds the driver has no license, no insurance and the car does not really belong to him. How is that racial profiling? Minor violations are spitting on the sidewalk, not endangering the public with a couple of tons of metal steered by someone that learned to drive by herding his mule down the road in the old country.
